Sultan Announces Sunday As Eid-el-Fitr Day

The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar.

Following the sighting of the moon, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has declared Sunday, March 30, 2025, as the day of the Eid – el – Fitr celebration

This confirmed the end of Ramadan.

The Sultan, who is the President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), said the decision followed the report of the National Moon Sighting Committees across the country confirming sighting of the new moon of Shawwal in several places across the country.

He felicitated with the Nigerian Muslim Ummah, and wished them Allah’s guidance and blessings.

The sultan also urged Muslim Ummah to continue to pray for peace, progress and development of the country.

Meanwhile, the Grand Chief Imam, Ikorodu Division, Fadilat Sheikh Seifudeen Ayinla Ademoritan Olowo-Oribi, has confirmed the end of the 2025 Ramadan and Eid celebration tomorrow to Muslim faithful in Ikorodu.

Fadiat Olowo – Oribi made the confirmation in a statement:

“Furtherance, to the above statement published 21:13 (WAT) today, March 29, 2025.

“This is to announce that information reaching me from the Office of the Sultanate through the Grand Chief Imam of Lagos, His Eminence, Alhaji Sulaimon Oluwatoyin Abou-Nolla, the moon for the month of Shawwal has been sighted in Nigeria. Insha Allah, we will be observing Eid-il-fitr tomorrow, Sunday, March 30, 2025.
