-Its Principal gets outstanding awards

The premier college in Ikorodu Division and one of the best colleges in Nigeria, Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu has emerged as the 2025 Top Performing School of the year in the senior school category of the African Top Schools awards.
Its award – winning Principal, Mrs Iyabo Idowu Elusakin, also emerged as the 2025 Outstanding Principal of the Year and she was equally inducted into Africa Top Schools Hall of Fame.
The school had in 2016 and 2017 won the Africa Top Schools Awards for the Top Performing School of the Year.

In a statement released by the school following the feat, it described the awards as excellent feats and ascribed it all to efforts of the Governor of Lagos, Mr Babajide Sanwo- Olu, Commissioner for Education and Tutor – General/Permanent Secretary, Education District II and its Principal.
The school also acknowledge the contributions of its staff and old students’ association.

“The school has carved a niche for herself in excellence and dedication to nurturing leaders of tomorrow. This commitment has continued to earn the citadel of learning recognition nationally and internationally.

“This achievement is a testament to the incredible efforts of the Lagos State Government towards the improvement of quality education in Lagos State under the leadership of His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Mr. Toyin Alli Balogun, the award-winning Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Anike Adekanye, one of the awardees (hearty cheers on the well-deserved recognition) and the visionary principal of Oriwu Senior Model College, Mrs. Iyabo Agnes Elushakin.

“The reward of hard work is more work. This continued striving for success of this ivory tower further underscores the commitment of both the teaching and non-teaching staff, students, parents, ORIWU MODEL COLLEGE OLD STUDENTS ASSOCIATION, and all stakeholders to changing the narratives of education in Ikorodu, Lagos State and Nigeria at large,” the statement added.
