A Chairmanship aspirant, Mr Shakiru Moritan Seidu, has condemned the destruction of his campaign billboards.
Shakiru, who is aspiring on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) complained bitterly about the development via a phone call to our reporter on Saturday, he also made the allegation in statement which is also sent to THE IMPACT.
The aspirant said that he started installing the boards across the council area on Monday, March 17, 2025, to make his campaign more feasible, but was shocked to see one of them placed at Meri Junction vandalized.
He also alleged that six persons who attempted to remove some of his campaign boards at his office were prevented by the local vigilante team.
“It is important to inform the members of the public of an immature attitude displayed by some unknown individuals to destroy Shakiru Moritan Seidu’s Campaign Billboards in Igbogbo.
“I made my intention to contest as the next Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA known in May 2023, to all our Party and Community Leaders, across Ikorodu Division. Since then, I have been going here and there to sell my Programmes and Plans for the good people of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.
“On Monday, March 17, 2025, we visited some major communities in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, to make ourselves more familiar at the grassroots, through erection of Billboards, and we were warmly received in all communities that we visited.
“Surprisingly, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, about 12 midnight, six strange persons were challenged at my Campaign Headquarters, Igbogbo, for going away with some of my remaining Campaign boards, which were thereafter retrieved from them. Credit to our Security man at Club 24, who disrupted their evil plans.
“On Friday night, March 21, 2025, one of my biggest Billboards which was mounted at Meri Junction Igbogbo, was again, destroyed beyond remedy, by unknown persons,” Shakiru Seidu’s statement alleged.
He called on the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA boss, traditional institutions, party leaders and other stakeholders to intervene and forestall future occurrence and provocation:
“I want to appeal passionately to the below mentioned names to kindly intervene to forestall future occurrence, in order to avoid possible retaliation by our supporters, because a similar thing had happened before to the incumbent Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Builder Olusesan Mayokun Daini, during his first term campaign. This is bad for our political history in Igbogbo.
“Attention: Chairman Olusesan Mayokun Daini, HRM (Barr) Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, APC Apex Body, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Joint Task Force, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, The Nigeria Police Force, Igbogbo Youth Forum, Igbogbo Development Association, IDEA, Adeboruwa-in-Council, Igbogbo, Olubeshe -in-Council and Fidimolu Elepe-Council.”
He urged his supporters in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA and beyond, to remain calm and peaceful, adding that they should focus on actualisation of his Chairmanship aspiration.
