-Shocker As Otunba Olukoga joins the race
The 23 aspirants announced by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu have started to appear before the screening panel, a few days after the first interface on Tuesday.
THE IMPACT gathered that the aspirants started appearing for screening at the APC Secretariat, along the Obafemi Awolowo Wat, Ikorodu, on Wednesday.
It was gathered that the panel led by Alhaji Gafaar, former Vice Chairman, APC Lagos East has been inviting the aspirants in batches.
It was gathered that five aspirants – Hon. Adebowale, Council Leader, Ikorodu LG, Comrade Japheth Odesanya, former Secretary to Ikorodu LG, Mr Oladele Ogunfodunrin, a health professional and public commentator, Prince Adebayo Ladega, a businessman and Prince Eniayewun, took their turn before the panel on Friday.
Other members of the panel present at the screening were Hon. Olawunmi Ajetunmobi, Apex Secretary, Ikorodu Division, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye, former Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Lagos State, Dr (Mrs) Afolabi Dixon, medical practitioner and chieftain of APC and Alhaji Animashaun, APC Chairman, Ikorodu Central.
Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, Chairman, Ikorodu LG and Deaconess Wonuola Osinowo, APC Lagos East women leader, whom we learnt is in Jerusalem, were absent at the Friday screening.
THE IMPACT gathered that the aspirants tendered their voters’ card, party registration, CV, political profile among other documents.
It was gathered that they were asked questions on their knowledge of Ikorodu, development plans for Ikorodu if elected, attendance at party meetings, knowledge of their wards and LGA structures and activities among others.
In a related and stunning development, the jostling for the Ikorodu LG Chairmanship has witnessed an unexpected entrant in person of Otunba Fatai Olukoga, a former Permanent Secretary and former Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Education.
He was also a former aspirant for the Ikorodu Federal Constituency and one of the Divisional apex leaders.
He will be joining the last batch of the aspirants to appear before the screening panel today.
Sources within the APC screening panel and the party confirmed to THE IMPACT that the political leader has officially joined the race.
Attempts to reach Otunba Olukoga for confirmation proved abortive. He did not pick calls when called earlier today and has not responded to messages sent to him as at the time went to press.
