Again! Hon. Matthew Arowolo Emerges Ikorodu Councilor Of The Year

The performing and outspoken local representative, Hon. Matthew Kolade Olufemi Arowolo, has again been recognized for his consistent legislative impacts at the grassroots level as he emerged as the Best Councillor in Ikorodu Division for 2024.

Hon. Arowolo who is somewhat physically challenged (due to a past injury) but persistent in challenging himself to be better than his peers in terms of the discharge of his duties and responsibilities to his Ward C4 (Owode/Ibeshe) area of Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State. Southwest, Nigeria.

The Starlight Newspaper, organisers of the Ikorodu Man of the Year Award unveiled Arowolo online on Friday as the Councillor of the Year 2024 in the category of Outstanding Personalities Award.

Hon. Arowolo was honoured as Best Councillor in Nigeria twice and also won the same honour twice in Lagos State. In Ikorodu, he has been recognized three times in aoppreciation of his outstanding legislative practice in the grassroots.

He has also been accorded international recognition for his impacts.

Announcing him for the award, Starlight aptly described the active Councillor’s life as “From struggle to strength; from adversity to impact”, adding that, “True leadership is born out of resilience, service, and the unwavering desire to uplift others.”

Hon. Matthew Kolade Olufemi Arowolo, a polio survivor who once funded his education through street begging, has defied all odds to emerge as a visionary leader, entrepreneur, and philanthropist.

As the Leader of the legislative arm of Igbogbo Bayeku LCDA, he has spearheaded transformative initiatives, from free education to road rehabilitation and empowerment programmes for the less privileged.

Beyond politics, his companies — Exodus Press and AWAMA UNIQUE GLOBAL NIG LTD —continue to redefine innovation and excellence. Through the Arowolo Support Initiatives, he has provided boreholes, food for widows, and scholarships for students, ensuring that no dream is left unrealized.

“In recognition of his unwavering dedication to community development, he is proudly awarded the COUNCILLOR OF THE YEAR 2024!” Starlight noted in respect of Hon. Arowolo.

The award will be presented in April 2025 in Ikorodu.
