The Taofeek Ipaye Foundation (TIF), the platform which the Councillorship aspirant for Ward C2, Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has been using for his outreach and humanitarian activities on Wednesday stormed the council’s Primary Health Centre (PHC) where he engaged nursing mothers.

The meeting with about 50 mothers and the matrons provided the aspirant the opportunity to unveil his plans for them if elected as their representatives and he pledged to make a difference.

The young aspirant who has been commemorating his birthdays with visit to PHC to interface with nursing mothers and present gift items to them also gave mothers present packages which include baby pampers, bath soap and detergent.

“We are here today not to come and advertise ourselves but for the continuation of our service to humanity. I have been at this health centre at least twice before now to give our little support to nursing mothers.

“I normally do it to commemorate my birthday. The last one was done at the PHC Ita – Elewa in Ikorodu. We had to take the packages to Ita -Elewa because it was a Friday and reaching here, we were told that it was not a clinic day.

“We have always imbibed the culture of service to humanity and giving back to the community because we know that ‘a giver never lacks’ and that was what prompted us into politics.”

The aspirant furthered, “I can tell that we are not into politics to make money, rather, to use it as a platform to further our service to humanity and we intend to continue with this support for our nursing mothers from time to time.”

He unveiled his plans for nursing mothers at the occasion.

Ipaye emphasised that he is into politics to make a difference and assured mothers and other residents that they would not be abandoned:

“We are in politics to effect a positive change and difference and also to change the narrative and tell our people that it is possible. They have to feel our impact because we cannot be in position for ourselves. This easier to do for somebody that is into politics because he doesn’t have what he’s doing and to such, politics becomes the job and a way out and there is no how such will remember the people that elected him or her.

“But for us, we have what we are doing and we are going into politics to give back and remember people in terms of their needs and offer our support.

“It is very painful to see mothers not being catered for. These are the same people that are always there for us come rain and sun. If we are voting during the raining or dry season they will be there.

“But unfortunately, at the end of the day, they are usually forgotten.

“We are going to always have it at the back of our mind where we are coming from and who are our people. We will not abandon you only to come back four years after to seek for your votes again”, he said.

The young aspirant also sought for prayer and support from the mothers for him to achieve his aim which he said would be beneficial to them and the community.

“We are here to seek your prayer and support for us to do better because it is a herculean task.

“I ask you to always pray for me to achieve my aim because a prayer that is answered will also be a blessing to the masses and humanity and we are promising we will be different and we are not going to be like others that got your mandate and forgot you.”

Comrade Damilare Opeyemi Kuti, Director – General, Taofeek Ipaye Foundation (TIF), speaking with THE IMPACT also stated that the outreach is to further consolidate on the bond that has been created by the aspirant which he said would be maintained.

“We actually want to continue impacting the community because we have seen and heard from the people that those representing them do not have good relations with the grassroots. They are disconnected from the people that gave them mandate which should be their main responsibility.

“To us, this is what we have been doing and we intend to continue to get closer to the people and impact on them in our little ways and also intend to continue with this gesture after we are entrusted with their mandate.

“So, it is just a little way of getting back to the community. We have other plans, but this is just the first because we prioritize our mothers. After this, we will also touch other sections.

“We are also here to speak to them and let them know the main essence of motherhood which is nursing children and bringing them up in good ways to be good ambassadors to the community and assure them that we are with them”, he said.

As part of the visit, a matron spoke to the nursing mothers on the importance of breast feeding their child and adhering strictly to necessary immunisation and other health exercises prescribed for their children.
