Shakiru Seidu Unveils Blueprint Towards Building A Better Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA

A Chairmanship aspirant for Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area in Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, Mr Shakiru Moritan Seidu (SMS), who declared his intention about two years ago, has unveiled his agenda for the transformation of the council if elected.

This was contained in his letter of intent to the party on the platform of which he is running – All Progressives Congress (APC), party leaders, and other major stakeholders within and outside the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, a copy of which is made available to THE IMPACT.

Seidu, who is the publisher of MegaXpression, describing his campaign agenda, said that, “This is my blueprint as a roadway towards building a better society. Together, we’ll actualise the dream.”

His agenda cut across Education, Health, Market, Transportation, Environmental Sanitation, Security, Agriculture, Job Creation/Placement, Infrastructural Development, Youth/Sports/Social Development and Chieftaincy Matters among others.

The aspirant said that his vision is to, “diligently and conscientiously lead the residents of Igbogbo Bayeku LCDA, and to make it a model of reference for other Local Councils in Lagos State” while also stating that he has mission to “to promote and influence laudable projects beneficial to the residents of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.”

Seidu’s ‘Promises’ to the constituents of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA is illustrated below:

EDUCATION:
Creating avenue for qualitative education for the pupils, to ensure adequate materials and facilities in our public primary schools.

To facilitate good atmosphere for teaching and learning processes, by providing sufficient classrooms, desks and benches in all our primary schools through working in conjunction with the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA).

Providing Scholarships for qualified indigent students.

We will introduce annual debate, quiz and essay competition among public primary schools in our LCDA.

We will facilitate more Secondary Schools through the State Government.

HEALTH
“Health is Wealth”. We’ll promote healthy growth within our LCDA through the establishment of more health centres and renovation and re-equipment of the existing ones to meet the standards of the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Periodic free medical check up to the elderly citizens.

MARKET DEVELOPMENT:
We’ll establish more markets and renovate the existing ones to modern standards in order to promote economic growth within our LCDA.

We’ll facilitate interest free mini loan for our traders, to encourage and stabilise their businesses.

We’ll encourage private participation in the department of markets.

TRANSPORTATION
We’ll promote viable transportation system by constructing additional motor parks where appropriate within the LCDA to allow free flow of traffic on our roads.

We’ll work closely with our representatives to woo and facilitate more tarred roads to our LCDA.

ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION

A regular attention will be given to our drain system, to allow free flow of floods during the rainy season.

We’ll design effective refuse collection system among communities under the improved private sector participation scheme.

We’ll strengthen the enforcement machinery on environmental sanitation.

We’ll discourage illegal dumping of refuse with enlightenment on the laws guiding refuse disposal and management.

SECURITY
We’ll make our LCDA safer through improved collaboration between the Nigeria Police, the current JTF in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA and CDAs.

Partnership with private sector to strengthen the Neighborhood Watch Initiative.

Establish highly mobile, well equipped crime fighting squads to operate 24 hours.

AGRICULTURE
Provisions of agricultural tools, seedlings and fertilizers for the farmers/ fishermen, encouraging and giving assistance to improve the quality of farming, fishery output.

To create a fishermen settlement centre in Bayeku, Ibeshe, Offin and Oreta, to ensure that the centres become functional and relevant to the needs of the community, by providing the enabling environment for smooth operation.

Establishment of more sales outlets for essential commodities across Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA

JOB CREATION/ PLACEMENT
We’ll encourage private sector role in job creation under the Public/Private Sector Partnership.

We’ll ensure direct job creation by the Local Government renewal, traffic management and law enforcement.

INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS
We’ll maintain the existing roads across the LCDA by introducing Road Maintenance Team.

We’ll open the network roads across the LCDA.

We’ll provide street lighting.

We’ll erect Local Council Boreholes across the LCDA, while the existing micro water works that are not functioning will be given prompt and immediate attention.

YOUTH, SPORTS AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
We’ll encourage sports department and engage our youth in talent hunt for sport development.

We’ll establish recreational Centres throughout the LCDA.
