Free Surgery Commences For 114 Cataract Patients In Ikorodu

114 patients who were discovered during the two -day free cataract screening and surgery programme organized by the RHODA Youth Centre in conjunction with Eye Foundation Hospital, are being operated freely for cataract surgery in Ikorodu.

A total of 349 people were screened during the two – day exercise with 122 patients receiving glasses,15 glaucoma detected and about 30 other residents received free drugs. 82 patients referred for further screenings.

Only 8 patients were pronounced not with any eye defect.

The exercise took place at the RHODA Youth Centre, Abiodun Ogunleye Street, Solomade, Ikorodu between Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th February, 2025.

Asiwaju Rotimi Erogbogbo, speaking with THE IMPACT at the weekend, said that the programme went well and thanked beneficiaries both within and outside Ikorodu that took advantage of the free screening and surgery for their cooperation.

He said that patients with cataract have started trooping to the Eye Foundation Hospital in Ikorodu since Thursday as scheduled for their surgery.

He reiterated RHODA Youth Centre’s commitment to assisting residents in preventing them from going blind by offering them medical assistance.
