One of the Chairmanship aspirants for the Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, Dr. Samson Bisiriyu, has stated his role in the construction of the Erikorodo – Odogunyan Road.
The construction of the deplorable road into a modern paved and motorable way which will be commissioned today was facilitated by Rep. Babajimi Benson, representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency and Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Defense.
Dr Bisiriyu in a chat with THE IMPACT online on Friday, said that he personally met with the federal lawmaker and pleaded with him to attend to the road because he felt that the community lacked government presence.
“The road was deplorable when I moved into the Erikorodo community in Ikorodu North LCDA in 2020 after the COVID 19 pandemic.
“The community has been calling for the government’s attention over the road but there has been no positive response for over 25 years.
“It is because of the injustice and under – development that I witnessed in Ikorodu North LCDA that I decided to join politics and eventually supported the APC in the last generation elections so as to use the position to redress these challenges.
“Unfortunately, I did not get the party’s ticket for Lagos State House of Assembly which I aspired for in order to push for changes, but I made my case known to Rep BABAJIMI BENSON MHR, representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
“I pleaded with him to help us fix the road, and he visited the area during the last campaign for the last general elections and he assured us that if we delivered votes for all the APC candidates and he returned to the House, that he would do something.”
The youthful APC aspirant continues, “This is exactly what we did by voting for all the APC candidates in the last general elections. We delivered our votes as promised to him.”
While commending the administration of President Bola Tinubu and the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency for the construction of the road, Dr. Bisiriyu added that the development is a testament to the reason why everybody has to be involved in politics.
“In less than two years of Asiwaju Tinubu’s administration and Rep. Benson’s third term, the road has been fixed as a compensation for our massive Votes for the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’. Indeed, our community has been renewed.
“Some people in the community did not believe it would be possible and did not believe me when I told them that we were going to see Mayor Muhydeen Sanwoola, the Director – General, iCare Foundation, Rep. Benson’s operational arm and Rep. Benson himself to help us and that it would be done.
“This is another testimony of getting involved in politics,” he said confidently.
