The state-of-the-art Neonatal Ward and Mother’s Bay at the Agbala Annexe of General Hospital Ikorodu has been commissioned.
Funded by Lions Clubs International Foundation and Ikorodu Doyen Lions Club, this facility is a game-changer for maternal and neonatal healthcare in Ikorodu community.
The commissioning event held during the week, was graced by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Benjamin Eniayewun, and board members of the Lagos State Health Service Commission.

Equipped with cutting-edge medical technology, the center will provide essential care for premature and critically ill newborns, ensuring they receive the best possible start in life. Additionally, it offers crucial support for nursing mothers, easing both the emotional and financial burden of neonatal care in Ikorodu Local Government.
The Medical Director of General Hospital Ikorodu, Dr. Taiwo Hassan, described this initiative as a historic milestone, emphasizing its role in enhancing healthcare access and alleviating pressure on existing hospital facilities.

Also in attendance were chieftains of the Lions Club – District Governor, Lion Dr. Folashade Shotomide PMJF NLCF, MCC/Grant Administrator, Lion Ano Anyanwu PMJF NLCF, PID Lion Engr H.O.B Lawal and PCC Lion Kola Oyekanmi.
