Oriwu College Old Students’ Association Gets International Chapter, Unveils New Constitution, Other Initiatives

The Oriwu College Old Students’ Association of Nigeria (OCOSAN) has continued to break new grounds in its quest to standout as one of the foremost alumni associations in Nigeria and to support the old school that has produced many eminent personalities and has continued to mold young minds to greatness.

At the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the school hall on Sunday, January 19, 2025, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the association under the leadership of Alhaji Muhammed M.B Arole, announced the establishment of the USA chapter of the association.

At the meeting also attended by the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT), Alhaji Mutiu Ishola – Lemomu, and members of the board, Alhaja Kudirat Lamina and Engr. Shamsideen Longe, among other chieftains, the NEC also unveiled a new constitution which comes into effect January 16th, 2022 and presented the college layout plan.

Unveiling the new constitution, the Deputy National President, Mr ‘Kunle Oshodi, said that the constitution shall serve as the grund norm for the association and all its structures – branch associations and Class Sets must strictly adhere to it.

Alhaji Arole emphasizing the formation of the USA branch association of the association announced that it has already been registered in the country and that their activities will be in synch with the OCOSAN National body.

He also hinted that the formations of the branch associations in Canada and United Kingdom/Europe are also in the pipeline.

He emphasised that the formation is in tandem with the provisions of the Section 6, sub – section b of the constitution of the association.

The National President further charged various sets and branch associations on the need to operate within the provision of the constitution so as to be seen as an association guided by law and order and for the purpose of effective and proper running.

He enjoined members of various class sets in the USA to join the body.
Unveiling the college’s layout plan, Alhaji Arole said:

“This blueprint provides a clear direction for the future developments of Oriwu College. It is our collective responsibility to ensure the execution of these plans.”

While thanking chieftains and various class sets for the immense support, the National President also called for further strengthening of OCOSAN by encouraging members to remain engaged, connected and supportive of one another.

On behalf of the association, the National President thanked the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson for facilitating multiple projects – 600 bed space male hostel, a storey building of classrooms, multipurpose hall and rehabilitation of college clinic.

The Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT), Alhaji Mutiu Ishola – Lemomu, in his remarks, commended the national executives and various class sets for their commitment towards sustaining the tradition and dreams of the Oriwu College founding fathers.

He charged them on the need to continue supporting the association and the alma mater.

Alhaja Kudirat Lamina, in her remarks, also congratulated the old students on the giant strides made so far and also called for more commitment.

She charged members on the need for proper conducts when having guests attending our functions.

The AGM also provided the alumni association the opportunity to celebrate one of them, Master Abdulrahmon Abdulazeez, a 200-level student of Medicine and Surgery, Lagos State University College of Medicine, who was recently celebrated as One – Day Governor in Lagos.

Introducing the brilliant alumnus, Mr Abiodun Abari, the National Social Secretary and Chairman, Oriwu at 75 Anniversary Planning Committee, described him as the pride of the college.

In his own resoonse, Master Abdulrahmon Abdulazeez thanked the OCOSAN for the honour.

He stated he requested for standard ICT Centre and functional laboratories for the school in his request presented to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu.

At the AGM, reports of the 75th anniversary of the college was presented by the Secretary of its planning committee, also was the financial report among others.
