The gesture by the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson, in donating 1000 JAMB forms to intending candidates in his constituency through the Ikorodu Town Hall CBT Board under the Ikorodu Division Resource Development Committee (IDRDG), has been lauded.
The forms, which have been shared across the six councils in Ikorodu and other various interests within the Division, according to chieftains of the Group, would go a long way in assisting many families that cannot afford it, and allow their wards achieve their educational aims.
While the beneficiaries are being prepared for registration by the CBT centre, the Musediq Alogba E – Library & Research Centre, which is also an arm of the IDRDG, is also set to host this year’s pre – JAMB training for the candidates.

According to the centre, the training, which will hold on Fridays and Saturdays, will commence Friday, January 31, 2025, at the library located within the Ikorodu Town Hall, Ikorodu.
Former Minister of Works and Chairman, Ikorodu Town Hall CBT, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe, said that the kind intervention by the three – term lawmaker, would go a long way in ensuring that many indigent residents have access to university education.
“We appreciate our dear federal lawmaker for this gesture which aligns fully with the Resource Group’s aims and objectives of promoting education and ensuring that our young ones have access”.

Sen. Ogunlewe, who is a chieftain of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) in Lagos State, also explained that the forms have been distributed to various councils and interest, especially those that are really in need of it but cannot afford it.
“These are our main targets – the children of pepper grinders, petty traders and other less privileges in our society, who cannot afford the forms. Later in the future when their children make it, they will remember that it was Hon. Benson that gave them the ticket to have university education that thrown them into the limelight”, he said.
Prince Rotimi Ogunleye, Chairman, Musediq Alogba E -Library Research Centre, also speaking with THE IMPACT, emphasised that the intervention by the performing lawmaker would give the beneficiaries access to higher education, while also describing the gesture as human capital development.

“Rep. Babajimi Benson’s gesture is a positive development that would assist many who otherwise, may not have the money to take the JAMB forms and sit for the examinations which would give them tickets to higher education.
“Basically, it’s a kind of gesture which would will aid human capital development, because when you give opportunity to people to be able to move forward with their careers, you are developing them for a positive future use for the society.
“Some may say that it’s just JAMB forms but when you are talking of a form costing N7000 to N8000 depending on the amount that the examination body will call it, for 1000 students, it is a lot.

“For Hon. Benson to think in this direction and with such a such number, it is commendable and the parents and the students will have that opportunity to be able to access the opportunities, especially the indigent students who do not have the money.
“Unfortunately, these indigent students are brilliant, so, rather than have their brilliance stalled by lack of money, the lawmaker is providing them the opportunity to achieve their aims through this gesture”, he said.
Speaking on the pre – JAMB training being handled by his committee, Prince Ogunleye, who was a former Commissioner for Urban Development & Physical Planning, said that the objectives of the training is to make the candidate familiar with the operations of the computer and erase fear of complex that they usually face in the examination hall.

“The Musediq Alogba E – Library & Centre is prepared for the training of the JAMB candidates. This is not the first time because we have done that in the past.
“As part of the innovativeness of the centre, we conceptualised and midwifed the creation of the CBT centre in Ikorodu Town Hall, and we saw it as furthering of the objectives of the IDRDG as listed in our terms of reference.
“The Musediq Alogba Library Committee is working in sync with the CBT centre in ensuring that the pupils that will be writing the JAMB in this centre are well trained to be able to make use of the computers during their examinations and at the moment, we are upgrading the computer systems that would be used for the training of the students.

“The purpose of the training is to make them confident sitting behind the systems during their CBT examination and not be scared of the lettering on the keyboard.
“We have young elements, including the publisher of THE IMPACT, Seun Elesho and Bayode, a holder of Guinness World Record and a host of others that would be on ground to assist these young greater tomorrow in achieving the aim of the CBT training”, he said.
Confirming the date for the commencement of the training, the library committee chairman also added that the JAMB candidates will be prepared for the examinations in the next two months plus, for them to have sufficient knowledge of computer operations and develop self – confidence.

“Once the fear of seeing the keyboard for the first time is eliminated, they will be confident. Students fail JAMB, not because they don’t know the answers to the questions, rather, it is because they have never seen the computer before, hence, the fear of the keyboard has already killed their spirits. That is what we are eliminating by getting this training done.
“The training will be starting on the 1st of February. So, for two and half months, we will be training them on the use of computer and prepare them for the CBT examinations that will hold sometimes in April or whichever time that JAMB fixes it.

“By then, they would have sufficiently gain knowledge on how to handle keyboard, mouse and the screen. All these will not be strange or scare them, and with that confident, they will be able to apply their brains and answer the questions correctly and from what we did last year, the results showed that the training really made impacts because they had better results than when there was no prior training to the JAMB examinations, and the facilities that we have in the town now was not there.
“So, the library committee is prepared and we are good to go”, Prince Ogunleye said.
Also, speaking, Engr. Idowu Ibrahim Abiodun, Supervisor, Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) ICT/CBT Centre, who has been attending to the beneficiaries with his team, also commended Rep. Benson on the gesture.

He too confirmed the readiness of the Ikorodu Town Hall CBT centre to host the 2025 JAMB examinations for the candidates.
“I have been hearing that Hon. Benson has been sponsoring free JAMB forms, but this year’s edition is amazing because it passed through and allotted through our CBT Centre.
“It has been distributed to political leaders, political office holders, schools, to enable those that are less privileged to have the opportunity of participating in the upcoming JAMB examinations. Even those with money can not afford to pay for it, how much more the less privileged.

“His intervention has aided parents and others in carrying their loads of giving their wards education. This period when students needed to write JAMB to transit to another state of their lives is a very critical one, and his intervention has assisted a great deal in preventing dropout and reducing the nuisance in our society.
“And our preparation towards the hosting of 2025 JAMB examinations is in top gear. We are 100% ready to host the examinations”, he said.
The pre – JAMB training being organized by the IDRDG’s committee, is free and interested candidates are encouraged to register through their schools or approach the librarians at the Ikorodu Town Hall, for further details and registration.
