His agenda towards transforming Ikorodu Local Government and making it sustainable cuts across the Economy, Infrastructure, Education, Security, Youth and Agricultural Development.

Majekodunmi also plans to focus on Cultural Preservation, Health, Efficient Transportation Systems, Boosting Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for Sustainable Growth and Empowering Women, Eradicating Poverty.

Details of his Fresh Ideas (Ilana Tuntun) for a sustainable Ikorodu Local Government are outlined below:

Economic Development

Ikorodu’s industrious people deserve an enabling environment to thrive. To achieve this, I propose providing low or zero-interest loans to Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) with flexible repayment plans. This initiative will mutually benefit both the government and traders, increasing Ikorodu Local Government’s internally generated revenue.

Infrastructural Development

As Ikorodu ranks 12th among Africa’s most populous cities, it is crucial to develop critical infrastructure. Periodic development plans will be created, setting targets to achieve our goals.

Education

Educational development is paramount. I will ensure schools are equipped with modern facilities, and implement scholarship and bursary programs for students in tertiary institutions.

Security

To address security challenges, I will establish a workable security programme involving synergy among existing security outfits. A computerized surveillance system will monitor strategic areas, reducing criminal activities.

Youth Development

Young people’s engagement in community building is vital. I will engage youths periodically, promoting inclusiveness in our administration.

Cultural Preservation

Ikorodu’s rich cultural heritage will be preserved and promoted through collaboration with the Palace of the Ayangburen, other royal fathers, and custodians of heritage sites.

Healthcare

Additional primary healthcare facilities will be created in each ward to reduce congestion and provide timely access to healthcare services.

Efficient Transportation Systems:

Ikorodu’s rapid population growth has created an urgent need for a well-organized transportation system. Currently, there is a lack of coordination in our transport infrastructure. To address this challenge, we will develop a comprehensive transportation programme in collaboration with transport unions and the state government.

Boosting Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for Sustainable Growth:

To leverage Ikorodu’s rapid population growth, we will develop and implement a cutting-edge revenue generation strategy and policy. This proactive approach will significantly increase our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), ensuring a sustainable financial foundation for our local government.

Agricultural Development

Agriculture is key to providing food and increasing GDP. I willl collaborate with existing stakeholders to boost productivity and initiate agricultural skills acquisition programmes for youths and job seekers.

Empowering Women, Eradicating Poverty:

To bridge the gap in women’s empowerment, we will launch a comprehensive initiative focusing on economic independence, social upliftment, and political participation. Our goal is to equip women with the skills, resources, and confidence needed to thrive in their chosen endeavours.
