Residents of Igbe communities between the Igbogbo/Bayeku and Ijede Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) of Ikorodu Division area of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, have continued to live in fear of kidnappers.

While they are yet to recover from the multiple kidnapping cases that occured in the community last year, the last which happened in mid-December when a former female footballer and her friend were kidnapped at Igbe Oloja under the Ijede LCDA, and released about a week after the payment of N13million ransom, another resident has been kidnapped on Saturday night.

The latest incident happened at Igbe Alagemo under the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.

While the kidnapers went away with a woman who is the mother in-law of their target, THE IMPACT gathered that the local vigilante, Kayode Toriola Adeyemo who was securing the house, was killed.

The armed kidnappers left him in pool of his blood, while they kidnapped the mother in – law of their target (name withheld), whose house was close to the swamp that the kidnappers have been operating from for the past two years.

It was gathered that the kidnappers usually target owners of big houses in Igbe and Agunfoye communities who live close to the swamp.

Sources within the community said that the Joint Security Taskforce (JTF), Igbogbo/Bayeku, under the leadership of Agali, the Ijede Police Command and Area N Command have been informed about the unfortunate incident.

It was also gathered that the kidnappers have not made any demand for ransom as at Sunday night when our reporter filed in his report.
