-Inspects other ongoing school projects he facilitated at Offin, Oreta
Relief and renewed hope have come after years of making use of a makeshift block of classrooms constructed by the Lajo Community through a self – help initiative.
Students and the management of Lajo Junior Secondary School, Lajo In Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area of Ikorodu Division, are preparing to move the junior secondary school into a model structure in the next few months courtesy the representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, who facilitated an 18 – classrooms structure.
Aro who is a first term lawmaker and Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Public Private Partnership (PPP), said that he facilitated the building in fulfilment of his electoral promise to the community and part of his agenda for educational development.
Apart from the functional 18 classrooms structure being embarked upon by the Special Committee on Rehabilitation of Public Schools (SCRPS), other features of the contract also include construction of a reinforced fence on a raft foundation, two gate houses and a food shed.
“What we will have here is the best of what we can see anywhere and I want to charge you to continue to support our party and government
“I remembered then, when I was making the verbal promises and people failed to believe on the ground that politicians always make promises, but thank God, He has made this a reality,” he said.
Hon. Aro thanked the Governor of Lagos State for approving the construction of Lajo Junior Secondary School and also that of Reri Secondary School which has been under construction since last year.
Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Builder Sesan Daini, commended the Constituency II representative for facilitating the project while also congratulating Lajo community for the development.
He specially commended the Baale of Lajo, for sacrificing the land meant for the construction of his palace for the school.
“On the instruction of my brother (Hon. Aro Moshood), I requested for the structural drawing which I had studied and I can assure you that it is the best that we can actually get.
“In that drawing, there is a laboratory that will really prepare our children for competitive challenges in the challenging global world.
“It is a complete school and not just classrooms. It is a school that will prepare our children for competition. When completed and with the level of competence of our teachers in Lagos State, may be Lajo will eventually turn into a model school,” Builder Daini affirmed.
Also speaking at the foundation laying, Baale Lajo, thanked Hon. Aro Moshood for fulfilling his promise.
He pleaded for the project to be completed in nine months as assured.
During the inspection of the ongoing project at Reri Senior Secondary School, Offin/Oreta and Local Government Primary School, also in Offin, which he facilitated, Hon. Aro expressed satisfaction with the progress and reiterated his commitment to timely completion.
He emphasized the significance of these developments in fostering educational development in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA and Ikorodu Division in general.
At Reri, the LASG is constructing an 18-classroom block, renovating six classrooms and an office with toilets and raising the existing perimeter fence for improved security. While at the Local Government Primary School the projects include the renovation of eight classrooms equipped with toilets, renovation of six additional classrooms, structural reinforcement of three classrooms and raising of the existing fence to ensure privacy and safety.
