Commissioning Of Igbe Ogunro Primary School Represents Our Administration’s Commitment To Education – Ijede Council Boss

Following the completion and commissioning of the Igbe Ogunro Model Primary School, pupils who have been using the palace of the Baale of the community now have a befitting classrooms and conducive environment for learning.

The model school which foundation was laid in August 2023 was commissioned during the week with the Executive Chairman, Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo – Alogba who initiated the establishment of the school stating that the commissioning represented the commitment of his administration to quality education in the council area.

The completed structure – a block of six classrooms, ICT Centre, office and toilet facilities was commissioned by the representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), with support of the Council Chairmen from Igbogbo/Bayeku, Imota, Ikorodu North and Ikorodu West LCDAs – Builder Sesan Daini, Hon. Wasiu Agoro, Builder Adeola Banjo and Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem and other party leaders.

At the commissioning, Hon. Gbadebo – Alogba also provided educational materials – school uniforms and exercise books – to some students as part of her administration’s continuous Back – to – School Initiative.

“This project was conceived and completed by our administration. It represents our unwavering commitment to providing quality education to our future leaders. Our administration is focused on developing and improving the quality of life for Ijede LCDA residents

“Education is one of our policy frameworks and this project is borne out of our desire to meet with the yearnings of the entire Igbe Communities of Ogunro, Kapo and Oloja, which prior to this time had no such school close to the community; school children used to travel from Igbe to far away schools in Ijede”, she said.

The Council boss said that the new structure is built and equipped to provide the pupils with conducive atmosphere for learning and added that her administration has also been supporting the pupils and their parents by providing education materials.

“We want all our children to be in school and also have easy access to quality education. That is why we are not just constructing buildings; the classes are well ventilated and equipped with facilities and amenities that will enhance the learning experience of our students. The facilities are: standard furniture, toilets, borehole with reservoir, fans, and green area.”

Hon. Gbadebo – Alogba emphasising her administration’s commitment to educational development, listed how the sector has been impacted in the three years:

“We place premium on education that is why we have recorded the following achievements in the education sector – complete renovation and provision of furniture at Ijede Library transforming it into modern facility that surpasses learning and community engagement.

“Distribution of Annual JAMB Forms to indigent students which has opened door to higher education for many students who may otherwise have been left behind .

“Annual distribution of “Back to School Pack” which has eased the financial burden on parents ensuring more children have access to education without hindrance, support to NUT Teachers’ Day Celebration, support for inter house sports competitions, support for Inter schools indoor games competition such as scrabble & chess helping students to develop critical thinking and strategic planning skills, bursary award to indigent students.

Others are: “Education Merit Award to encourage teachers and pupils in the public schools in the LCDA, Annual children’s Day Celebration, Award of 1million Naira to the best graduating student from the Lagos State University and repair and construction of damaged fence at Luwasa Secondary School and Anwar-Ul -Islam Primary School, and many other impactful programs”, Hon. Gbadebo- Alogba said.

Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, who was the special guest of honour at the commissioning, commended the Ijede Chairman for securing the future of the children and the community.

“What you have done is securing the future of our children and my heart is just so glad at what God has been using you to do.

“They will be able to have their education in a conducive environment and we must appreciate you for what you have been able to do”, he said.

He charged parents and pupils to note that the teachers must instill discipline and also impact knowledge on the pupils to be great in life.

He also commended teachers for their services to the society and called on the parents to aways appreciate what they do to their children.

The state lawmaker also called on the community to take ownership of the school by ensuring that the facilities are well protected and maintained.

In addition, he appealed to them to make available more lands for the school’s expansion and also for the construction of a secondary school.

Speaking on behalf of the Council Chairmen in Ikorodu and by extension the Conference 57, Builder Sesan Daini also commended the Chairman of Ijede LCDA for making them proud with her activities in Ijede.

“On behalf of the Conference 57, I congratulate the Ijede LCDA Chairman, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo – Alogba for this project, for moving us forward and fulfilling part of her electoral promises.”

Daini said that she would still do more, and also added that he was personally happy with her because there was no longer any fight over boundary issues between Igbogbo/Bayeku and Ijede LCDAs which shared boundary, rather, there has been cooperation.

He added that the newly built school would reduce stress on the school that belongs to Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA which the children from Igbe Ogunro and other Ijede communities were attending before.

“You have used this school to solve the immediate need of your community, because before now, children from this community usually attend our own school and with this, you will be taking about half of the population.

“This is the beauty of governance; beauty of cooperation. when two governments are at peace and are working for the development and progress of their people. When there is cooperation, personal interest will not be of interest but that of their people”, he said.

The two – term council chairman also said that the projects that are being executed by the councils are as a result of increase in their allocations.

“The completion of this project and its commissioning is part of the achievement of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.”

The Council Engineer, who spoke about the project said that the ICT facility was deliberate to expose the pupils to computer education while also adding that the Greenland that was also created within the compound is meant to expose them to the importance of green environment.

Hon. Saheed Hassan, former Chairman, Ijede LCDA, Mr Ajetunmobi Rasaq and others that spoke also commended the Chairman for the initiative.

The school head teacher, Mr Olalekan Abdul in his goodwill message said the construction provided the community the opportunity to have access to school while Master Rabiu AbdulKareem, a pupil of Primary 3 and Omolaja AnuOluwa who is jn Primary 4, spoke fluently in the official English Language (to the admiration of guests) to appreciate the Council Chairman for supporting their future with the school.

Other important personalities that graced the commissioning were Hon. Kareem Kabir, vice chairman, Ijede LCDA, Hon. Fadeyi, council leader, Ijede LCDA, High Chief Alliu Musediq, Regent/Olisa of Ijede, Otunba Adebayo Aba Ajanaku, the Otunba of Ijede, the Aro of Ijede, Alhaji Golden Jay, APC stalwart, Alhaji Kayode Fahm, and Mrs Akintola, Head of Administration, Ijede LCDA among others.
