The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olushola Sanwo -Olu, has been urged to complete the abandoned Doctors’ quarters located within the Government Reserved Area (GRA), Ikorodu.
Dr Taiwo Hassan, Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO), General Hospital, Ikorodu, made the appeal, while stating that the present state of the building poses major challenge confronting the health institution.
He made the appeal during the First Baby of the year ceremony attended by the Governor’s wife, Dr (Mrs) Ibijoke Claudiana Sanwo -Olu, at the General hospital, Ikorodu, on Wednesday, January 1.
The medical director said that the structure would accommodate 40 House Officers for training.
“Your Excellency, not resting on our oars, we seek intervention in the completion of the abandoned renovation of the Doctors Quarters containing 8-Unit of 3 Bedroom Flat each, 6-Unit of 1 Bedroom Flat and 11 other rooms (with toilet and kitchen) located at GRA 1, Ikorodu (right beside the hospital).
“Renovation was abandoned and premises locked up since 2014.
“This building, if completed, will increase the capacity of the hospital to conveniently accommodate 40 additional House Officers for training. However, the present state of the building is contributing to the dwindling availability of Doctors in the system”, Dr Hassan said.
Meanwhile, the MD/CEO has commended the administration of Governor Sanwo-Olu.
While welcoming the Lagos First Lady and her large entourage, he said that the annual event shows the Governor’s commitment to the wellbeing of the future leaders.

“Your Excellency, your unwavering passion and support for the healthcare system and family in Lagos State, has given healthcare delivery in the State a quantum leap under this administration, making it a model for other States to rigorously emulate.
“We are humble and, at the same time, boastful to declare today that the administration of Mr Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has, in no small measure, been favourably disposed to the development of this great hospital, evidence of which are all around us today”, he said.
