30 Youths Participating In Ongoing Igbogbo Students’ Union Camp

A total of 30 registered participants are currently participating in the ongoing maiden Igbogbo Students’ Union (ISU) holiday camp.

The camping, which is holding at the Andus D Great Schools, along the Igbogbo/Offin/Oreta Road, kicked off around 10am on Thursday. The camp will last for three days.

Participants were welcomed by the chieftains of the ISU.

The Camp Coordinator, Hon. Ogunbiyi Hafsoh, addressing the participants, thanked them for being part of the ISU Camp 1.0.

She guided them through the camp’s rules and expectations. Following this, participants were divided into five groups: Group Apex, Group Boundless, Group Catalyst, Group Dynasty, and Group Elite.

According to the organisers, each group was allowed to select their group’s names collaboratively, to foster teamwork and a sense of belonging.

After lunch was served consisting of Eba, Egusi soup and fish as the protein source. The first facilitator, Comrade Aliu Mubarak, delivered a session on the topic, ‘Community Positioning: Addressing Youth Homelessness Through Citizen Assembly’. This segment saw Group Elite stood out with remarkable participation led by one of their members, Idowu Emmanuel.

To ensure the participants remained engaged, the Camp Coordinator organized games, providing a fun and relaxing break. A siesta period followed, allowing participants to rest before the next activity.

Later, all participants were assigned clean-up duties to maintain the camp’s hygiene. The responsibilities were divided as follows:

Groups A and C: Cleaned the hall and kitchen.
Groups B and D : cleaned the toilet
Group E: Cleaned the male and female hostels.

After dinner were served which included Rice and Fish Sauce, the opening day business proceeded with a debate session with two thought-provoking topic: ‘Is teamwork more effective than individual effort in achieving success?’ and ‘Can artificial intelligence replace human decision-making in leadership?’.

Outstanding participants emerged with the top four performers including Oyesanya Ayobami – 1st place ( Group Catalyst), Idowu Emmanuel – 2nd place ( Group Elite), Tinuoye Anuoluwa – 3rd place ( Group Apex) and Kuti Dominion – 4th place ( Group Boundless).

The opening day concluded with a movie screening of ‘October 5th’ and at 11:30pm, light out was observed, bringing an end to a productive and engaging day at the camp.
