A HEARTFELT TRIBUTE TO HON. ARO MOSHOOD ABIODUN ON HIS BIRTHDAY, BOSS LIKE NO OTHER!
Today, I celebrate not just a Boss, but a rare gem, a man whose life exemplifies humility, compassion, and selfless service – Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun. As you mark another year of your impactful journey on earth, it is only fitting to reflect on the extraordinary person you are and the indelible legacy you continue to build.
I vividly remember my first encounter with you in 2018; I was a member of Igbogbo Day Youth Sub-Committee. We planned an empowerment program for skilled young people.
I vividly remember my first encounter with you in 2018; I was a member of Igbogbo Day Youth Sub-Committee. We planned an empowerment program for skilled young people.
At the time, we were on a mission to support talented young people who were unable to pursue their craft due to lack of resources. We devised a plan to provide them with tools and equipment and embarked on a series of presentations to political officeholders, hoping to secure funding. Despite our earnest efforts, we couldn’t raise even 25% of the funds we needed.
Just when despair began to set in, a friend, member of the committee, Mr. Tolulope Faniyi (Mr. Oga), suggested we visit a man in Ijede — a then House of Assembly aspirant. Reluctantly but with some hope, we made our way to Abule Eko one Saturday afternoon. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a young, impeccably handsome man, with white teeth and a neatly shaped haircut who opened the gate for us with a warm smile. His humility was striking. I assumed he was the personal assistant to the aspirant and admired whoever had such a capable young man on their team.
It wasn’t until we were seated and began discussing our project that I realized this was no assistant. This was the very man we had come to meet. You listened attentively, asked for our budget, and without hesitation, committed to funding half of it —₦500,000 — a promise you fulfilled within a week. He eventually spent about a million Naira on the Igbogbo Day program that year.
Even more striking was your refusal to discuss your political ambitions during that meeting. When I asked why, you simply said, “You came for another purpose entirely. It’s my joy to help the vulnerable and be part of people’s success stories.” Those words left an indelible mark on me, and from that day, I knew I wanted to be part of your team.
Your generosity that day was no isolated act. Long before you declared your political aspiration, you had been touching lives in profound ways —grading roads, donating transformers to underserved communities, offering scholarships, supporting small businesses, and empowering market women. You never sought accolades or recognition; your actions were driven by a genuine desire to uplift others.
But beyond your compassion lies a man deeply rooted in faith. Your love for God is as unwavering as it is inspiring. As a dedicated choirmaster, you compose songs of worship and never allow any engagement to take precedence over your devotion to God. I’ll never forget how, after the 2019 election loss, while I was still crying and grappling with disappointment, you were in church the very next day, singing praises and offering gratitude as though we had won the election. That singular act of faith redefined what true strength and leadership mean to me.
As a legislator, member of Lagos State House of Assembly, your efforts have been nothing short of exemplary. You have fulfilled your promises with diligence and integrity, ensuring that the people you serve experience the impact of your compassionate leadership. You often remind us that your position is both a privilege and a responsibility bestowed by God’s mercy, and you live every day striving to be to others what God has been to you—a source of hope and blessing.
Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, you are more than a boss to me; you are my Brother, a Mentor, and a Friend. Your humility, intelligence, and commitment to doing good have inspired me and countless others. You have shown that true greatness lies in service, and your life continues to be a shining example of what leadership should look like
On this special day, I pray that God continues to bless and elevate you. May your life remain a channel of blessings to many, and may all your dreams for a better society come to fruition.
Happy birthday, Boss!
