Rep. Babajimi Benson Commemorates 2024 Isiu Day With Network Of Roads Commissioning

Mayor Muhydeen Sanwoola, Director General, iCare Foundation who represented Rep. Babajimi Benson commissioning the four roads he facilitated at Isiu with Oba Olukayode David Raji, the Eweye of Isiu and other traditional rulers on Saturday.

Just like last year’s edition, the 2024 Isiu Day was, again, made memorable by the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, with the commisoning of four adjoining roads in Isiu in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division, Southwest, Nigeria.

Th roads – Jimi Benson Road, Arobi Ona Road, Oba Kayode Raji Crescent and Adeyeri Oba Street, that links one another and which constructions started some months back, were completed in due time for commissioning in commemoration of the annual Isiu Day as promised by the three – term lawmaker, during the last edition of the celebrations.

He was also presented with an award of appreciation by the Isiu Development Association, for his impacts and quality representation.

Recall that Rep. Benson in 2023, also commissioned a big market with about 50 lock – up shops in commemoration of Isiu Day.

Joining the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, who was represented by the Director -General of its working team, iCare and the Executive Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on Park Management, Mayor Muhydeen Sanwoola, and the Chief Host of the day, Hos Royal Majesty, Oba Olukayode David Raji, the Eweye of Isiu, in commissioning the road were numerus royal fathers.

Among them were His Royal Majesties, Oba Semiuden Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Saheed Owolabi Momson, Abowa of Agbowa, Oba Asumo Ganiu Aderibigbe, Alayandelu of Odo Ayandelu, Oba Olayemi Lukman Arowolo, Gbadewolu of Araromi, Lekki area, Oba Ahmed Olakunle Ogundero, Alagura of Agura, Oba Kazeem Gbadamosi, Ologijo of Ogijo, Oba Prof Adeyemi Obalanlege, Olota of Ota, Oba Bashir Shotonwa, Sekumade of Ipakodo, Oloshoroki of Oshoroki, Lekki area and the Odofin of Emuren and others.

Mayor Sanwoola, while congratulating the Eweye of Isiu and the entire residents on the 2024 annual day celebration and on the road networks facilitated by Rep. Benson, also apologized for the absence of the lawmaker, which he said was due to official engagements at the national level.

He thanked the royal fathers, who were in their large numbers, for coming around to celebrate with Eweye, and also joining in the commissioning of the projects that he said would transform the economic and social lives of Isiu.
While stating that about 70 roads has been so far facilitated by Rep. Benson, Mayor Sanwoola also added that the purpose for the road construction is to open up Ikorodu Division to development.

“We thank God for the fact that for the first time, we have someone that is opening up Ikorodu, and basically all the roads that we are constructing are to open up Ikorodu Division.

“Majorly, we are focusing on link roads; roads that connect to another, so that Ikorodu will open up. When I say Ikorodu, please, don’t take it literally, I mean Ikorodu division, because for us, it is a Division”, he said.

Meanwhile, the Eweye and the entire residents of Isiu, were grateful for the intervention of Rep. Benson for the roads which majority said have drastically transformed Isiu and aided their economic and social lives.

“This particular road was in a very bad state when I received staff of office as the Eweye of Isiu, but last year, when Jimi came to Isiu, I told him to assist with the road.

“And here we are today, the 2km road has been completed”, Oba Balogun said.

The Eweye of Isiu also pleaded with the lawmaker to assist the community in building a befitting Eweye palace for Isiu.

Also at the commissioning were Builder Adeola Banjo, Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Prince Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan, former Director – General, Lagos State Sports Commission.
