Members of the Adeboruwa – in – Council in conjunction with the Igbogbo Development Association (IDEA), Igbogbo Youth Coalition (IYC) and Ijasi Ilu, have called on all the parties to the disputes over the Iyaloja – General of Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, to embrace the path of peace.
The traditional chiefs and community actors that met at the Adeboruwa palace on Wednesday, over the lyalojaship crisis, said that it is important to engage members of the public to correct the misunderstanding in respect of the appointment of Alhaja Ashake Wahab as the new Iyaloja of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, by the market associations, against the appointment of Chief (Mrs) Mojisola Oyesanya as the acting Iyaloja – General of the community by the council.
Some of the chieftains of the Adeboruwa-in-Council in attendance at the crucial meeting were Chief Tajudeen Alade Onasanya, Odofin of Igbogbo Kingdom, Chief Odugbose, Otunba of Igbogbo, Chief Jelili Oduntan, Balogun of Igbogbo and some Baales.
Engr. Oduntan, Mr Tunde Afuwape and others represented the IDEA, while the President of Igbogbo Youth Coalition, Dr. Adeleke Dankuwo represented the umbrella body of the youths in Igbogbo Kingdom.
In a communique issued at the end of the crucial meeting, it was stated that:
“The attention of HRM Oba (Barrister) Abdul-Semiu Orimadegun Kasali, Emugoriade 1, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom and Oba-In-Council, Igbogbo Development Association (IDEA), Igbogbo Youth Coalition (IYC) and Ijasi, have been drawn to some information circulating on the social media in respect of recent appointment of Iya Oloja General for Igbogbo-Bayeku LCDA.
“It is important to provide some clarifications as part of the efforts to de-escalate the situation and educate members of the public.
“Adeboruwa Palace wishes to state unequivocally for information and record, as follows:
“Our revered Alayeluwa, HRM Oba (Barrister ) Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali is the traditional head of our Kingdom, and we hold him in high esteem.
“Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun is a father to all and a political leader in our LCDA and Lagos State. He is well respected.
“Builder Olusesan Daini is the Chairman of our LCDA, and is equally well respected”, the communique stated.
“The traditional and community leaders said that there is no dispute among these prominent personalities, and noted that efforts are on to correct some misinformation in the public domains.
“Members of the public should, please, note that there are no disputes among these eminent personalities in Igbogbo community, contrary to speculations in some quarters.
“Also note that efforts are ongoing to correct the misinformation that emanated following the appointment of Iya Oloja General for Igbogbo-Bayeku LCDA.
“Therefore, those that are peddling negative comments or insinuations, or attacking one other, should restrain themselves so as not to cause avoidable crisis in this peaceful community.
“Igbogbo is a land of peace. The residents will continue to enjoy peace and tranquility under the leadership of our Alayeluwa.
“The Adeboruwa Palace seeks cooperation and understanding of all residents and groups as we move on towards addressing the issues at stake in the best interests of all and sundry”, they pleaded.
