-SAIL Lab, iCare, IDPIL get Adeboruwa Excellence Award
The Igbogbo community has inducted three prominent personalities in Igbogbo into the 2024 Class of its Hall of Fame as part of the events celebrating the annual Igbogbo Day Celebration.
The individuals – Prof. Dapo Bakare, First Igbogbo Professor in Diaspora, Prof. Idowu Omobitan, First Deputy Vice Chancellor, LASU and Builder Sesan Daini, Longest Serving Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA and Builder of Modern Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA Secretariat, were inducted during the luncheon with Adeboruwa of Igbogbo at the Mikson Onas Hall, Igbogbo on Sunday.
At the event, three individuals and five groups were also conferred with the Adeboruwa Award of Excellence. The individuals were Prince Olusegun Oduntan, National Vice President, Association of Nigerian licensed Customs Agents(ANLCA), Alhaji Afolabi Amusa, Executive Secretary, Local Government Education Authority, and Mr Olalekan Biliamin Onafeko, Clerk of the Lagos State House of Assembly, while Managing Director/CEO, iCare Foundation, Managing Director/CEO SAIL Foundation, Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Limited and Rotary International, Igbogbo Platinum Lions Club, made up the groups.
In the Adeboruwa Meritorious Award category, CSP Akinola Clement, DPO Ikorodu Divisional Police Headquarters, Ikorodu and Joint Taskforce, Igbogbo Bayeku LCDA, were honoured.
Adeboruwa Special Awards were also presented to Alhaji Sulaimon Ayokunle, CEO Sula Bread, Mr Kehinde Adebowale Sodiq, Assistant Comptroller General, NIS, Mrs Emily, Sky Blue Water, Igbogbo, Shamsideen Babatunde Ogunjimi, Director of Account, External Affairs Ministry, and Tolaram Nigeria Limited
Others under the Special Award category were Igbogbo students that graduated with First Class Honours – Zainab Ogunlewe, UCH, Ibadan, Barr. Oluwatosin Ogunlewe, Lagos Law School, 2024, Mr Olamide Balogun, Computer Science Department, ABUAD, and Miss Abidemi Adeniji.
Adeboruwa Outstanding Indigenous Awards were received by Prince Adebisi Ogunlewe, Retired Director, Town Planning Office, Lagos State and Arch. Ganiu Shodeinde, Comptroller of Works, Federal Ministry of Works, Kogi State, while Chief Dayo Sotomiwa, Olisa of Ipakodo, Imam Lookman Al – Mubarak, Chief Missioner, Ansar – Ud – Deen, Igbogbo received the Igbogbo Ambassadors awards.
Setting the agenda for the evening of honours, Mr Titilope Andu – Balogun, Chairman, Igbogbo Day Planning Committee, said the occasion was designed to honour people that have contributed to the social and economic developments of Igbogbo by the Adeboruwa.
“We are here today because Kabiyesi has deemed it fit that people that have been doing numerous things in Igbogbo Kingdom should be honoured. Every year, Kabiyesi usually gives awards to those that have helped in the development of the community. It is good to help in the development of our community.”
Barrister Dotun Adetunji, Chairman of the occasion congratulated the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Semiudeen Kasali, the Adeboruwa – in – Council, the Igbogbo/Bayeku Council and the entire people of the community on the celebration.
In specifically congratulating the Kabiyesi for the development that his reign has witnessed within the period, Barr. Adetunji also congratulated the awardees for the honour being bestowed on them for their impacts.
He emphasized, “We are all here to celebrate with Kabiyesi today for the development that our community has been witnessing during his reign.
“I also extend my greeting to every one present here today and I acknowledge the important people that are here to receive awards today because of their impacts in the development of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.
“I congratulate those that have put Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA in the frontline and we are here to show our appreciation. Those that have not done anything, God will give them the power to be able to also contribute.”
Oba Kasali during his royal remarks said that the ceremony is being used to thank GOD and advance the Igbogbo community and honour people with outstanding contributions.
The royal father congratulated the entire residents of Igbogbo and friends for the success of the 2024 celebration up to now.
Six youths in Igbogbo were presented with tools of their trade donated by Engr. H.O.B. Lawal Foundation.
At the award ceremony were Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye, Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Sir (Dr.) Omotunde Ogunlaja, who doubled as the Chairman of the Igbogbo Development Association (IDEA) and that of the Civic Centre Project Implementation Committee, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, former Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Barr. Nurudeen Ogbara, former Chairman, NBA Ikorodu, Engr. Lateef Oduntan, General Secretary, Mr Babatunde Afuwape, Administrative Secretary, IDEA, Engr. Taofeek Kalejaiye, Technical Secretary, IDEA, Odofin Tajudeen Onasanya, the Odofin of Igbogbo, High Chief Odugbose, Otunba of Igbogbo, Chief (Mrs) Karimot Jokotade Ojikutu, Iyalode of Igbogbo and Balogun Jelili Oduntan, the Balogun of Igbogbo and other members of the Adeboruwa – in – Council.
