The Chairman, Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo has given an update on the state of the Small Medium Scale Enterprise (SMSE) Registration and Certification Hub at the Ikorodu – Oga Civic Centre which he announced last year.
While stating that progress has been made, Erogbogbo also revealed challenges and called for more support towards the attainment of achieving the purpose. He emphasized that IKODASS is fully committed to the project.
The IKODASS Chairman gave the update at the weekend during the grand finale of the 33rd Ikorodu – Oga Day at the Ayangbure palace, Ikorodu, attended by the Deputy Governor of Lagos State Dr Obafemi Hamzat, state executive members, federal and state lawmakers, royal fathers and other dignitaries
“Last year at this very venue, during the Grand Finale of Ikorodu-Oga Day Festival, we announced the building and equipping of a fully functional SMSE registration and certification hub here in Ikorodu.
“The hub, apart from housing all agencies of government relevant to registration and certification of businesses, will host a modern Cottage Industry Incubation Centre to aid the development of our SMSEs and curtail capital flight from Ikorodu.
“We are fully committed to this project, as a matter of fact, significant fundamental progress has been made”, he said.
Speaking on the challenges, Erogbogbo said:
“At project commencement we discovered a major encumbrance on the land and immediately set to work to correct it.
“The consequence of that is that inflation has caught up with our budget but there is no going back on the project because, clearly, as the third largest city in Southwest Nigeria, Ikorodu deserve no less.
He, therefore, called for more support towards the completion of the project.
“I therefore call on all men and women of good will, sons and daughters of Ikorodu home and abroad, responsible clubs, unions and associations to step up and donate to this project that has the capacity to catalyse Ikorodu economy.
“Ladies and gentlemen, May I remind us once again that our path to progress is each of us contributing to the greater good of our community. This is the path Ikorodu must continue on to achieve lasting success.
“From my time in the saddle, one thing stands out; we like quality, we love progressive ideas. The burden of quality is that it costs money. This administration over the years has clearly demonstrated that we are not lacking in ideas. What we lack is money.
The IKODASS appealed, “I therefore appeal to everyone present, physically or virtually, to come to the aid of IKODASS by generously donating to the association and our projects. I heartily thank you in advance for this support. All donations should be made to Ikorodu Oga Development Association, account number 0000591191; Access Bank.”sts money.
