Former Chairman, Governing Council of the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH now LASUSTECH), Prof. Tajudeen Gbadamosi, has paid tribute to his former colleague and predecessor, Prof. Nurudeen Olorunimbe Adedipe, who passed on to eternity last week.
The former Professor of History at the University of Lagos in his tribute described his late colleague as an outstanding scholar and a rare gem among leaders:
“Oh, what a pity! What a loss! He was a bright star in the firmament of scholars; and a rare gem among leaders.
“We interacted on many platforms, academic and otherwise. We worked together on the committee that obtained licenses for Crescent and Fountain Universities. He was my predecessor as Chairman of the Governing Council of Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH), now Lagos State University of Science and Technology, and I appreciate the contributions he made to the progress of that institution.
“We met on religious platforms too. He was a man of values and standards. He cherished honesty and integrity.
“Yes, Prof. NuruDeen Adedipe was a no-nonsense man who stood firmly by high principles. He was extremely steadfast and diligent, paying attention to details and not losing sight of the whole picture.”
While stating that late Prof. Adedipe will be missed, Prof. Gbadamosi, also added that his contributions to academics will remain a lasting legacies.
“Oh dear! We will miss him physically, but I am sure his pleasant personality will not be forgotten too easily. His moral and academic legacies will endure.
“I beseech Allah to overlook his shortcomings and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus. Amin.
“I also beseech Allah to console his widow and other survivors. Amin.
“Ojo a jina sira won o. Amin,” Prof. Gbadamosi prayed.
