-Miss Olawunmi emerges new queen
The Chairman, Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Asiwaju Rotimi Erogbogbo, has said that the annual Miss Ikorodu pageant is not just about showcasing beauty and elegance but also an avenue for young Ikorodu girls to exhibit their strength and talents.
Erogbogbo spoke at the Miss Ikorodu Beaty Pageant held at the Ikorodu Town Hall, Ikorodu, which is part of the ongoing 33rd Ikorodu – Oga Carnival.
At the competition, Miss Olawunmi Otayomi who represented Ikorodu Crystal Club) emerged the winner after weeks of training and assessment. She won the star prize of N200, 000 and gift items.
Miss Omowunmi Olutoke Oladapo of the Egbe Bobakeye and Oyinkansola Adewale, who represented the Likeminds Club, emerged as first and second runners – up respectively receiving N150, 000 and N100, 000.
Other participants that exhibited their talents and beauty were Temilade Agunbiade ( Egbe Tobalase), Praise Adegoke – (Urhobo community), Azeezat Sanusi – (Progressive Like Minds ), Christiana Majekodunmi – (Egbe Arobayo), Oladele, Folashade Emmanuella _ (Elite Gathering Club), Odejimi, Victoria (Caterer Club), Ogunkoya, Ololade (Egbe Akile), Jokomba, Ameerah Sumibare (House 11), Oduyemi, Oyinkansola (Blissful Family) and Gbadebo, Gift (Egbe Gbogeniyi).
In attendance were His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, the Odofin of Ikorodu, Otunba Ayodele Elesho, the Agbaakin of Ikorodu, members of the Ayangbure – in – Council, eminent personalities and beauty queens.
Asiwaju Erogbogbo, said that the Miss Ikorodu Pageant was designed to empower young and talented Ikorodu girls by guiding them to build their strength to become great ambassadors of Ikorodu:
“It’s a pleasure to welcome you all to this exciting evening organized by the Ikorodu Oga Development Association.
“Tonight, we come together to celebrate not only beauty, grace, and elegance but also to honour the rich cultural heritage, strength, and talents of our young women in Ikorodu,”
According to Asiwaju Erogbogbo the contestants represent cherished values in Ikorodu.
The IKODASS chairman charged the participants to see the contest as the starting point for them.
“As we cheer for our contestants tonight, let’s remember that each of them represents the values we cherish in Ikorodu: unity, resilience, and a commitment to positive change. They are all winners, and through this experience, they have gained the confidence and determination to shape a better future for themselves and our community.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our sponsors, judges, and all who worked tirelessly to bring this event to life. Your dedication to the growth and development of Ikorodu is commendable.
