Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday inaugurated two additional fire stations in fulfilment of his administration’s commitment to the protection of lives and property of the citizens.
The commissioned fire stations are at Abule Eko in Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and Ijegun Egba in Oriade LCDA. The new fire stations are equipped with cutting-edge equipment with trained personnel to tackle domestic fires, industrial accidents and emergencies.
Speaking at the commissioning, the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu emphasised the significance of commissioning new fire stations in Lagos State, noting that this achievement aligns with the State’s mandate of becoming a 21st century economy.
He was represented in Ijede LCDA by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin.
Mr Governor highlighted the rapid population growth as a driving force behind the improvement and expansion of fire services, necessitating fully equipped stations to provide convenient and swift emergency responses.
He said that the fire service station will also serve the Igbogbo/Bayeku and Imota communities.
Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ikorodu Constituency II, thanked the Governor for the intervention.
He further solicited more impactful infrastructural developments in Ijede LCDA and the entire Ikorodu Constituency II.
Also speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman, Ijede LCDA, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba commended Mr. Governor for the landmark project which will improve the safety of lives and properties of Ijede LCDA residents and neighboring communities.
Stakeholders at the commissioning welcome the fire station as an important infrastructural development and improvement of the lives of citizens.
