The Executive Chairman Imota LCDA, Hon. Wasiu Agoro has commissioned a block of six classrooms for the use of staff and pupils of UNA Igbalu Primary School, Igbalu (in Ijede Local Council Community Development Area (LCDA)), bringing relief to the school which has been in a deplorable condition.
The facility was commissioned last week with other political office holders, management team members and others from the council.
The renovation, the Chairman said is in tandem with his administration’s mission to strengthen educational infrastructure across the council.
According to him, the provision of a conducive environment for learning in the school will enhance both the learning and teaching process:
“Today we are happy to make history as UNA Primary School Igbalu, is being commissioned for academic excellence in the Igbalu community and these accomplishments will inspire teachers to impart quality comprehensive learning to our children.
The grassroots level of education begins with the primary school. Education is key and so we are determined, especially at the grassroots level.”
The elated council executive furthered, “This primary school holds historical and educational significance for this community. Our commitment to rebuilding this school goes beyond infrastructure; it’s about preserving a foundation of learning for generations to come.
“I thank the school manager, Mrs Olawuyi, the Councillor representing Ward D at the Imota Legislative chamber, Hon. Oluwole Adeshina and the Supervisor from Ward D, Hon. Adebola Lateef for their relentless efforts in making this day become a reality.”
The head teacher of UNA Primary School , Mrs C.O. Olawuyi commended the council boss for his gesture
While narrating their ordeals prior to Hon Agoro’s intervention, Mrs Olawuyi said that whenever it rained, disruption of all their activities in the school due to the deplorable conditions of the school building was the reality.
She added that many pupils were discouraged from coming to school because of the poor condition of the classrooms.
Mrs Olawuyin enthused: “This school was begging for help and almost forgotten and your quick intervention has lifted this school to a new standard. We will no longer be affected by the sun and rain.
“The joy you have brought to us is immeasurable. That is why we are all gathered here to celebrate.
“Through the reconstruction of this school building, you have boosted the morale of our students. You have made them willing to learn and happy to come to school and as for the teachers, you have made us proud and increased our zeal to teach these children because you have made everything easy for us”, she said.
Other staff, pupils and parents in attendance also commended Hon. Agoro for the intervention.
