-Road To link 20 Communities
The representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Rep. Babajimi Benson has intensified the opening up of communities in his constituency with new roads such as the Adamo Road which was first constructed some 30 years ago and has since become deplorable. The road reconstruction was flagged – off for on Thursday.
The road according to the federal lawmaker when completed will link about 20 communities in the area.
He was represented by Executive Assistant to the Governor on Park Management and the Director – General, ICare Foundation, Mayor Muhydeen Sanwoola.
The construction is expected to be completed in three months with drainage system and streetlights similar to other roads facilitated by the three – term lawmaker which have transformed social and economic lives in other areas in Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
While emphasising that the road is part of the efforts to open up communities and link them with main roads across the constituency, Rep. Benson commended the persistence and commitment of the Ikorodu North LCDA, Baale, Community Development Associations (CDA) and residents which resulted in the flag – off.
“I thank the joint CDA chairman. The story of this place, the success or the glory of this project is a joint effort. I know how many people have been to my office. Even people that are faceless. The Baale have come as a group because of this road. Your Councilors – both the Council Leader and Majority Leader, come to my office virtually all the time. Equally, your Chairman and Vice Chairman have also reached out to us on this road.
“At a point the pressure was so much, but what we are flagging – off sits perfectly with what we have been trying to do which is opening up Ikorodu and linking communities to each other. This way leads to about twenty different communities.”
He sought the cooperation and support of the entire community especially the youths with the contractor that is handling the project.
Rep. Benson also said that Gbaga Junior Secondary School will receive additional classrooms as part of his education support and school infrastructural development programmes.
In his remarks, Builder Deola Banjo, Executive Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA commended the lawmaker for considering Adamo Road for construction as he has been doing all over the Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
While also commending the gesture of the lawmaker for his infrastructural developments especially in Ikorodu North LCDA, Oba Olukayode David Raji, the Eweye of Isiu, pleaded with youths in the area to cooperate with the contractor.
Prince Niran Ogunbanwo, Chairman, CDC in Ikorodu North LCDA and Comrade Salako, Chairman, Joint CDA Adamo, also appreciated the lawmaker for considering the road for reconstruction and bringing development to Adamo.
Prince Ogunbanwo charged the landlords and residents in the area to cooperate with the contractor to ensure timely completion of the project.
