38th Imota Ayayo Celebration: Alabi Pasuma Thrills Large Crowd With Old School Songs

Residents and well wishers of Imota Kingdom trooped out in their large numbers to celebrate Artisan and Royal Parade by clubs and associations, which is one of the activities commemorating the 34th edition of the Imota Ayayo Celebration.

At the event which featured the presentation of awards to families and individuals, the popular Fuji musician, Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Oga Nla, thrilled his fans and large audience at the stadium with many of his old songs as they snag and danced along till late in the night.

Honoured with the Distinguished Family Awards were Ogunfolabi, Saka Awo Oloko and Sofile Families while Alhaji (Chief) Abdullateef Akin Shoberu, Otunba Oyebowale Folagbade Ogunnowo (Posthumous) and Baale Nosiru Olayiwola Jimoh, received the Distinguished Personality Awards.

During the royal parade , different market associations, artisans, groups and families partook in the parade and paid homage to His Royal Majesty, Oba Ajibade Bakare Agoro, the Ranodu of Imota who was accompanied to the celebration by his Olori(s).

Members of Regberegbebe (clubs and societies) added colour to the grand ceremony with colourfu attires and breathtaking display during their parade.

The Chairman, Imota Ayayo Development Association, Mr Kunle Awolaja, thanked residents and groups for their support for the success of the 2024 celebration.

While charging them to enjoy themselves during the celebration, he also called for further support towards the projects of the association.

The height of the event was the entrance of the musician that headlined the event, Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma who threw the entire stadium into wide jubilation as they welcome him.

After paying homage to the royal father of Imota Kingdom, and his chiefs, the Fuji music maestro took to the stage to render his old songs which the crowd related with easily.


It was a long and eventful evening as the crowd sang and danced to the music supplied by Pasuma.

After the party at the stadium, there was a special dining experience which featured the traditional Ebiripo delicacy as part of the Day Three celebration of the 38th Imota Ayayo Celebration.

The celebration had many distinguished personalities in attendance such as Hon. Wasiu Adekunle Agoro, the Executive Chairman, Imota LCDA; Hon. Sunday Benson, Vice Chairman, Imota LCDA; Dr. Olumide Metilelu, former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Lagos State University pf Science and Technology (LASUSTECH); Dr. Abiodun Okedeyi, a senior lecturer, Lagos State University of Education (LASUED); Hon. Mohammed Fagbesan, Secretary to Imota LCDA; Princess Bisoye Jimoh, Supervisor for Works & Infrastructures, Imota LCDA.

There were also traditional chiefs, community and youth leaders at the occasion.

The grand finale of the 2024 celebration that kicked off on Tuesday, November 5, comes up at the Imota Stadium on Saturday, November the 9th.
