Imam Atunrashe, who is the Imam of the NASFAT Mosque at Oke Ota – Ona, explaining the cupping therapy, said that it is a way of removing unwanted blood from the body.
“We specialize in cupping therapy, which is the process of removing excess toxins in the body , especially those bloods that are not useful to the body again, because as we have part of our cells that are converted to energy, we have those that are not relevant; that are no longer good for the body.
“So, this excess goes into the red meat, but during the process of cupping, we have to extract out. The genesis of this practice is from the teachings of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). So, it’s a muslim way of treating people”, he said.
He further explained that the centre deals with all sorts of ailments.
“There is no ailment from a to z that we cannot actually deal with. It is all encompassing. We have a lot of testimonies from people that we have treated. We have treated patients with sight problem. A man was sometimes told that he cannot see again, and to the glory of Allah, eventually, he was able to see after our treatment.
“We have treated fibroid, infertility in male and female; we have treated prostate enlargement in men, and we have treated arthritis, osteoarthritis, spondylitis among others. We have, as well, treated high blood pressure and high blood sugar”, he said.
“We have used cupping therapy to treat a lot of ailment. So, there is no ailment that we cannot treat.
“We have different sections of cupping therapy – there is dry cupping and wet cupping. With dry cupping, patient does not really need to have an incision in the body, but the wet copying is the one we remove the blood. Secondly, we have chiropractic physiotherapy, we use this after a kind of injury or kind of stiff body system.
“Also, we have gym which is use to regenerate the body cells. It is customized for patients. We tailored the gym in respect to the need of each patient so as to give them standard care”, he said.
Explaining why he took to cupping therapy, Imam Atunrashe said that he chose the practice because it was dictated by Allah, and in order to have deep knowledge.
“I chose it because I am a Muslim and I am an lmam. So, I just look at the kind of doctrine in it. Our beloved Prophet (SAW), was a professor in so many fields. One of the fields he mentioned is cupping therapy, which is same thing as Hijama.
“A lot of people don’t know it and they don’t want to go into it. Some that know about it only knew little about it and they are not ready to research further. I was first a researcher and from my findings, I was able to concluded on it (Hijama), because in the long run, it would give me weight and energy to research further to see what it can work for.
“The genesis of this is my research from where I discovered so many things that people don’t know about it and today, a particular university in Lagos State, is willing to partner with me on training people for certification”, Imam Atunrase said.
Al – Monan Hijama Cupping Therapy Limited founder also said that the centre is open for training for those interested in the practice and also to those seeking ways to improve themselves.
He charged young men to always see cupping treatment once they are 40 years, while also enjoining women to take to it immediately after they stop menstruation.

He said that services that are being rendered at the centre are multifaceted.

Dr Adetokunbo Adebambo, in his keynote address, charged muslims on the need to use the knowledge bestowed on them to improve themselves and their society.
“A Muslim must not be stupid or ignorant of how to advance himself and contribute to his or her society, because Allah has taught us everything.
“He has given us wisdom and how to apply it. Imam Atunrashe has been doing this in a very good way and I commend him. He’s one of the few youths that I respect so much because he has vision”, he said.
He also charged that people must always take cognizance of happenings around them and use knowledge derived thereof to improve.
While stating that blood is a sacred thing, the keynote speaker called on muslims to do Hijama at least once a month, like the Holy Prophet (PBUH), either they are sick or not.
