Ultimately, the academy aims to produce leaders with a global outlook,” said Ogunlende.
Supporting his statement, the Permanent Secretary, Pharm. (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu emphasised that the IBILE Youth Academy aligns with the THEMES Plus Agenda of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, which prioritises youth empowerment and development.
“Over the years, we have faced leadership challenges at different levels in Nigeria.
The IBILE Youth Academy was initiated to address these issues by instilling leadership, citizenship, and volunteerism values in young people. It aims to groom their leadership potential for the benefit of Lagos State and Nigeria,” she stated.
“This year’s programme has been met with an inspiring level of enthusiasm as over 3763 applications were submitted showcasing the immense talent and ambition within the youths out of which 1228 applicants who scaled through the rigorous selection process were invited for physical screening held across the five divisions of Lagos State”, the Permanent Secretary noted.
The five-day intensive training across the five divisions – Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island and Epe. will select the top 10 participants from each division, who will then participate in a seven-day residential camp. From this camp, the State Youth Ambassador will be chosen, along with five Divisional Ambassadors.
