Emeritus Prof. Wahab, Dame Adunola Benson Honoured As Education Personalities In Focus

The Emeritus Prof. Kunle Ade Wahab, OFR, OON, an Emeritus Professor, Building, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile – Ife and former Special Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Due Process, as well as Dame (Mrs) Olabisi Adunola Benson, Co-Founder, Ikorodu High School, Ikorodu, have been honoured as Education Personalities in Focus, at the 5th Education Stakeholders’ Summit in Ikorodu.

Emeritus Prof. Wahab, who was also a former Chairman, IDRDG and IDHRDB and Dame Benson, who was also the Founder of Olabisi Adunola Benson Schools, were honoured with the distinguished awards for their immense contributions to education in Ikorodu Division.

This year’s summit was themed: “Family Structure, Child Socialisation and Children’s Wholistic Development”, a topic delivered by Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi of the Department of Sociological Education Studies, LASUED, Epe, and chaired by Dr Ganiyu Ishola Agbaje, former Director, National Airspace Management Agency.

At the ceremony, which took place on Thursday, October 10, 2024, Senator (Dr.) Adeseye Kingsley Ogunlewe, a former Minister for Works and immediate past Chairman, IDRDG, ITHMB, Senator Adetokunbo Muhkail Abiru, FCA, the Senator representing Lagos East, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, Member House of Representatives, Alhaji Bolarinwa M. Misbau (MM), an alumnus of Oriwu College, Ikorodu, and Mr. Festus Mobolaji Idowu, were also honoured with Award of Excellence for their contributions in different capacities to education in the division.

Dame (Mrs) Olabisi Adunola Benson, Co-Founder, Ikorodu High School, Ikorodu, represented by Arc. Taiwo Kara, Chairman IDRDG/ITHMB, receiving the Education Personalities in Focus from HRM Oba Semiudeen Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo at the 5th Education Stakeholders’ Summit in Ikorodu.

The Faduga Ogunlewe Royal Family of Igbogbo, which constructed 100 – bed hostels for Boys and Girls in Lagos State Civil Service Model Colleges, Igbogbo, and the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiatives GTE/LTD, the security architect in Ikorodu Division which has given out over N50million worth of scholarship and bursary awards to students in Ikorodu Division, as well as carried out school rehabilitations and other educational supports in the last three years, were also honoured.

In the school category the multi – award winning Principal of Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, Mrs Agnes I. Elusakin, received an Excellence Award as the Best Principal in senior secondary category, 2023 in Ikorodu Division, while Mrs. Ogunronbi Elizabeth of the Lagos State Girls Junior Model College, Agufoye, Igbogbo, emerged as the Best Principal in Junior Secondary School category, 2023, Ikorodu Division.

Master Adeosun Eriwole- Ansar-ud-deen Junior Grammar School, Imota, emerged as the Best Students in 2023 BECE result in Ikorodu Division with the following results: Basic Tech–A1, National Values Educ–A1, English language –A1, French –A1, catering craft Art- A1,Maths- A1, CRS- A1, Basic Science- A1, Yoruba- A1,pre-vocational studies-A1.

Master Akinkuowo Daniel Oluwatise, Government Senior Model College, Ikorodu, was honoured as the Best Students in 2023 WASSCE Result, Ikorodu Division. He made the following outstanding results – English Language- A1, Maths- A1, Civic education -A1, CRS- A1, Government-A1, Literature – A1,Book keeping -A1, Economics- B3, Biology -B3.

Mrs Saliu Fausat Olaibo, a teacher with Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, received award as the Best Teacher in Junior Secondary School category,2023, korodu division, while Mr. Olaoye Oyekunle Toyose, also of Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, emerged as the Best Teacher in Senior Secondary School category 2023.

Also honoured were Mr. Fapohunda Samson Kayode, the Head Teacher of the Community Primary school, Mowonla, Ikorodu, who emerged as the Best Head Teacher in Ikorodu Division,2023, and Mrs.Adeyemi Titilayo Mojisola of the UAMC (Eleja) Primary School, Igbogbo, who emerged as the Best Head Teacher in Ikorodu Division,2024.

Still on the school category, Mrs Kupoluyi Jumoke Adetoun, Head Teacher of the Community Primary School, Agodo-Alara, was honoured as the Best Primary School Teacher in Ikorodu Division,2023, while Mr. Elegbede Olawale Ismail, C&S Primary School 2,Majidun, Ikorodu, received award as the Best Primary School Teacher in Ikorodu Division,2023.

Master Adedeji Victor, UAMC (Eleja) Primary School, Igbogbo, got award as the Best Primary School Pupil in Ikorodu Division,2023, and Master Awodeji Semilogo, St. Saviours Anglican Primary, School, Igbaga, received award as the Best Primary School Pupil in Ikorodu Division, 2024.

Mire so, Miss Salami Oyinjasola Kharamat of the Lagos State Girls Senior Model College, Agufoye- Igbogbo, emerged the Best Student in 2024 WASSCE Result, Ikorodu Division with the following results -English Language- B3, Mathematics -A1, Marketing -A1, Civic Education -A1, Financial Accounting -A1, Commerce -A1, Government -A1,Agric. science-B2, English language -B3, and Economics -B3.

The Best Student award in 2024 BECE Result in Ikorodu Division went to Miss Hanifat Abeni Odunsanwo of the Oriwu Junior Model College, Ikorodu. She recorded the following results Maths- A1, Basic Science- A1, French -A1, Islamic studies-A1, National Values Education -A1, Yoruba- A1, English language -A2, Cultural & creative Art-A2, Business studies -A2, Pre-vocational studies -A2.

Other awards presented in the school categories were received by Lagos State Civil Service Senior Model College, Igbogbo (Best Senior Secondary School in Ikorodu Division, 2023); Lagos State Junior Model College, Agunfoye, Igbogbo (Best Junior Secondary School in lkorodu division, 2023); Community Primary School, Agodo-Alara, Ikorodu (Best Primary School in Ikorodu Division, 2023) and Local Government Primary School, Oreta, Igbogbo (Best Primary School in Ikorodu Division, 2024).
