Lagos Education District II TG/PS Gets Governor’s Commendation

The Education District II has emerged as the most outstanding Education District in Lagos State, and has been presented with the Governor’s Commendation Award.

The award was presented to the esteemed Tutor General/Permanent Secretary of Education District 2, Mrs. Anike Adekanye, in recognition of the district’s contributions to the development of children and support for Sexual and Gender Based Violence Awareness in Lagos State.

The 2024 Governor’s Commendation and Awards Night, which was held at Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, on Monday, September 30, 2024, was organised by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) with the theme: ‘SGBV, Not On My Watch’.

Receiving the award, Mrs. Adekanye expressed heartfelt gratitude to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, and his amiable wife, Dr Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, appreciating their exemplary leadership and deep commitment to the development of education in Lagos State.

She emphasized how serving under the Governor’s vision-driven administration is both a privilege and an inspiration that propelled her passion to elevate the standards of education in Education District 2, and contribute to the holistic growth of students across Lagos.

Adekanye equally thanked the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, and his wife, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, for doing so much for Lagos Education, and particularly for always supporting education development.

She appreciated, most profoundly, the Head of Service of Lagos State, Mr. Shuaheeb Olabode Agoro, for being the leader of leaders, and an amazing inspiration to follow.

The TGPS, popularly called the ‘#GameChanger’, also expressed her appreciation for the leadership of the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, whose encouragement and support, she said have been crucial to the various achievements of Education District 2.

According to her, “His consistent backing has made the district a key player in driving educational innovation and safeguarding students from societal challenges like domestic and sexual violence”.

Over the past years, Mrs. Anike Adekanye has achieved remarkable milestones, including producing One -Day Governors three times (2017, 2020 and 2021) One – Day Deputy Governors twice.

Under her tutor-generalship, the Education District II has also emerged three time winners of Teachers/Administrators’ National Awards in three years among other numerous academic and other awards.
