A bill to establish The IBILE Entrepreneur University in Ikorodu, Lagos State, on Wednesday passed through the second reading at the House of Representatives.
The bill, which was sponsored by Hon. Babajimi Benson, representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, and Hon. Kalejaiye Adeboye Paul (Ph.D), representing Ajeromi/Ifelodun Federal Constituency, was first read on the floor of the House on the 30th June, 2024.
The bill seeks to provide avenues for enhancing entrepreneurial education and fostering business innovation among the youths.
Leading the debate on the bill, Rep. Benson said that the university will be sited in Ikorodu, when eventually passed into a law, adding that it would boost the country’s economy.
“It is with great pleasure that I rise today to lead the debate on the bill for an act to establish The Ibile Entrepreneur University, to be located in Ikorodu, Lagos State, and most importantly, to boost the economic prowess of our nation.
“The proposal to establish this university is born out of a vision to address the critical need for entrepreneurship education and development in Nigeria”, the lawmaker said.
While stating that objectives of the establishment of the university, the sponsor also added that the university would promote culture of innovation and research.
“The primary objective of establishing The Ibile Entrepreneur University is to create an environment that nurtures and develops entrepreneurial talents in Nigeria. This institution will offer programs and courses specifically designed to:
