Babajimi Benson, Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Defense (right), who commissioned the legacy project – Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA Legislative & Administrative Complex build by him at the commissioning last week.

Although, it’s a few days over a week that the Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Legislative & Administrative Building was commissioned by the Chairman, House of Representatives on Defense and representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson, but the memory of the historic event still lingers.

Aside the arrays of dignitaries that attended the commissioning and the memorable first plenary session that was held on the day alongside other activities, Rep. Babajimi Benson also revealed how his path crossed with Builder Sesan Daini, the Chairman of the council whose administration built the legacy edifice.

Rep. Benson, while delivering his keynote address before leading other dignitaries to commission the edifice, said that he got to know the Igbogbo/Bayeku Council boss through the former Secretary to the Lagos State Government and chieftain of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun.

He usually jokingly refers to the young council boss as Sesan Daini Basorun Ogunlewe Kasali.

“He has long names. He his Mayokun, Sesan Daini Basorun Ogunlewe Kasali, Omo Iya Olobi (son of a coconut dealer). He is son of all the leaders and traditional ruler that I attached to his name.

“How do I got to know Daini? I knew him through Baba Basorun. It was during the local government elections. During the period, Baba Olowu of late, told me that it was the turn of his political group to present the Council Chairman but Baba Basorun insisted that Hon. Orenuga (the former Executive Secretary) must continue.

“As a person, I had no interest and will only follow or support whoever the party decided on at the end.

“At a point, Ayo Joseph, the LSDPC Managing Director called me to speak on behalf of Sesan Daini as a young man who is close to Baba Basorun, but I said no I don’t want to support any of the aspirants.

“I was at my office in Abuja, and suddenly, I saw a young man who had been waiting for me for hours, walked into my office and he told me that his name is Sesan Daini.

“After enquiring about him, he told me that he was 32 or 33 years and again, asked him what his interest was and he responded that he wanted to be the Council Chairman”.

The three – term lawmaker also said that upon his enquiry about his antecedents, he said that Builder Daini listed lengthy list of his political and other engagements.

“I was impressed by his submissions and list of his engagements. He did not give me respite and I was started liking him because he was 32 years old boy and he was confident and insistent.

“He has the braveness, courage, and vision to run a council where we have powerful people like Sen. Ogunlewe, Baba Basorun and the likes.

“At the end, he won because he was ordained by God. He is a star and intelligent. He has favour.

“He is visionary, accountable, empathetic, approachable….”, Rep. Benson said.

Rep. Benson also revealed the role played by the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA Council Chairman, in the ongoing construction of the Offin/Oreta road.

“I also want you to thank him over the Offin/Oreta Road, because he was not only insistent that I must facilitate its reconstruction, but he also submitted an architectural drawing and also gave me reasons to believe why the road must be done.

“Although, he lied to me that the road was 10km (laughter), and that after the completion of the road, it will only take seven minutes to cross to Victoria Island. That also caught my attention.

“He added that the road is longer than Ikorodu garage to Ojota and today, the reconstruction of the road has started.

“This is not the only achievement of Daini (pointing at the ultra – modern building at the commissioning).

“I am happy to inform everybody that by the end of this month or early next month, about tree kilometres of the road will be covered with asphalt and by January or February, the rest will be completed”, Rep. Benson assured.
