Ahead of the elections of the Igbogbo Youth Coalition (IYC) slated for Saturday, 21, 2024, a candidate for the position of President, Adeleke Oyenuga Dankuwo, MBBS, FWACS, has unveiled his manifestos for the youths of Igbogbo Kingdom.
Dr Dankuwo, who was among the candidates screened on Wednesday, was cleared with 90% score to contest the election which he has been adjudged to win with a landslide even though he is the sole candidate for the position.
The comrade medical doctor unveiled his agenda on Friday, with focus on Education, Advocacy, Unity & Inclusivity and Enablement & Welfare.
He said that if elected, his administration will use his agenda to set in motion chain of events that would bring about repositioning of the youths and also develop Igbogbo.
Dankuwo pleaded for the cooperation of the youths and stakeholders in the community, towards discharging their own responsibilities for the progress and development of the IYC.
“Dear brothers and sisters, we cannot address all the challenges of the coalition at once, but we promise to set in motion strategies to address some of the challenges with all vigour and the greatest sense of diligence.
“We all have a duty of responsibility to the association and we urge all members to work with the incoming executive council, and with one another to make our association better because we are truly better together”, he said.
He said that his agenda is designed to move Igbogbo forward, adding that his administration would employ collaboration while expanding the tentacles of the coalition.
“I present to you the following agenda that I will lead to move the coalition forward. In all, we will leverage on collaboration and expand our support network”, he said.
Emphasising his agenda on Education, Dankuwo, who is assisting the Igbogbo community in quality delivery of health to the grassroots people, said:
“We will promote interest in professional courses and make members have professional skills. This will be driven, funded, and achieved through Igbogbo Youth Coalition Education Fund (IYCEF) that will be created in the first 100 days of our administration.
“We will encourage and enroll members in bespoke digital technology skills acquisition in batches.
“We will maintain a register of members who are artisans and give regular support on ethics, customer relation and financial management. We will also do more to encourage, enroll, and empower other interested members on vocational skills training”, he said.
On his Advocacy agenda, the Presidential candidate said that he will lead other executives and members of the IYC to major stakeholders within and outside Igbogbo, to garner support and campaign for development in Igbogbo among others.
“We will carry out regular courtesy and humanitarian visitations to community development stakeholders, both within and outside our town, to drive support for the development of youths in Igbogbo.
“We will provide adequate and impactful representation of IYC at important community events and make meaningful contributions on our collective aspirations.
“We will amplify IYC developmental ideology and advance selfless community development activities as a key mandate of the coalition.
“We will push and develop a robust mentorship and leadership management system”, Dr. Dankuwo said.
In his resolve to promote unity and inclusivity among the polarized youths and within the larger Igbogbo community, the candidate said:
“We will ensure that we continue all existing IYC social programmes and organise new social and sporting activities to promote unity among members.
“We will demonstrate partnership and collaboration to strengthen relationships among members.
“We will ensure that every member is carried along as well as possible.
“We will ensure that there are rooms for diverse opinions to promote oneness”.
Through his agenda to empower members of IYC and improve their welfare, Dr. Dankuwo, stated that:
“We will encourage involvement in and facilitate programs that can make our members to be financially sufficient.
“We will give proper attention to the socioeconomic needs of our members as much as possible, and provide links of opportunity”, he added.
