The Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo – Alogba, has announced that the annual Oro Eginrin will hold tomorrow, Saturday, September 7, 2024, in Ijede area of Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria.
Hon. Gbadebo – Alogba made the announcement in a statement today, urging female residents to stay indoor from 11pm today till 6am on Sunday when the festival, which is all male affair, will last.
“This is to inform the general public and all residents of ljede LCDA, of the 2024 edition of the Oro Eginrin festival in Ijede town. The festival will take place on Saturday, September 7th, 2024.
“Female residents are advised to stay indoors from 11pm on Friday, September 6th, 2024, to 6am on Sunday, September 8th, 2024.
“This restriction is in line with the cultural practices associated with the Oro festival, which requires non-participants, particularly women, to remain indoors.
“I urge all female residents to comply with this directive to ensure a peaceful and successful celebration of the Oro Eginrin festival. May the gods of our land, make this festival a peaceful and fruitful one”, the Chairman prayed.
