The President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has been commended for his efforts in gradually putting the country back on track for development, especially through agricultural development.

The commendation was given by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu, Prince Adio Jamiu Saka.

Prince Saka, who was a special guest at the distribution of 1200 bags of fertilisers provided by the Federal Government through Senator Tokunbo Abiru, said that the country is getting its focus right with the Tinubu’s agenda for agricultural development.

The farm inputs were distributed at the Senator Abiru’s Senatorial office in Ikorodu, on Tuesday.

“In the profession that I belong, they say that, “the fact speaks for itself”. I think that we are just getting back to where we ought to have been. We are putting our priority right, and mine is to extend gratitude to the President on behalf of the entire Nigerians.

“This is one man that is not regionalistic in nature and no ethnicity. He is a Nigerian by all attributes, that is the kind of leadership I think we should be having.

“We are getting our focus right and anywhere you have food development and growth, that nation would be where it should be. Nigeria is not there yet until we get out priority right. Foremost is food, independence, capacity, competence, every other thing would follow”, he said.

While calling on the government to provide support for the farmers so as to ensure food security in the country, Prince Saka, who was former Chairman, Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG), also maintained that Nigeria should not be importing products that can be produced in the country.

“For me, anything Nigeria cannot produce, we have no business importing. That is the message I think we should get to ourselves. Every other thing is not just necessity. This is compulsory and I think it’s the way to go.

“More of it should come. We like to see more of infrastructure support. We also have to look at packaging (of agricultural produce). This is another area that we need to look into. It is not enough to grow so many things like organic products, if you don’t package it very well, we may not get the type of value and multiplying effects that we are looking for”, he said.

While advising beneficiaries of the fertilisers, Prince Saka charged them to be focused on making maximum use of the support that are getting from the government.
.
“They also should remain focus and knowing very well that the support will come, and the government is putting their priority right. And for that, they too need to show that they are good beneficiaries and also be thankful.

“They should use it for the purpose for which it has been established. Let’s get this country moving .

“The only way we can get it is if all of us , including all the farmers, can join hands together to get the kind of Nigeria that we are looking for. Thank you”, he charged.

The APC chieftain also thanked President Tinubu, for the support he has been rendering to the Senator representing Lagos East.

“So, we want to thank President Bola Tinubu, for his wisdom and we particularly want to appreciate him for kind of treatment that he is giving our Senator, Senator Mukhail Abiru. We are proud of him. He is a silent operator, a man that is focus and knows what he is looking for.

“He is a dividend for this area and we want to appreciate the President for that and again , if we continue like this, no doubt, Nigeria would be where we want it to be”, he said.
