The representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, has paid tribute to the late grassroots sports developer, safety ambassador and incorruptible former police officer, Alhaji Kolawole Saheed Akinsanya.
In a statement personally signed on Saturday by Hon. Benson who is the Chairman, House Committee on Defense, he said that Alhaji Akinsanya is going to be missed by many due to his impacts on the lives of many people.
Hon. Benson said that the late sports administrator recorded great successes within the sporting circle where he helped in the development of many young people.
“The passing of late Alhaji Saheed Kolawole Akinsanya has left a void in the hearts of many, particularly in Ikorodu Division, where he made indelible marks on the lives of countless individuals.
“As a sport administrator, his contributions to the growth and development of grassroots sports in Ikorodu, are immeasurable, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come”.
Chief Akinsanya’s passion for sports was evident in the way he dedicated his time and resources to nurturing young talents in Ikorodu. He believed in the power of sports to transform lives and communities, and he worked tirelessly to create opportunities for young athletes to excel.
“One of Chief Akinsanya’s most significant contributions was the establishment of Akinsanya Babes in 1989, which later metamorphosed into Pepsi Academy that helped Nigeria grew raw football talents from the grassroots. His initiatives provided a platform for young athletes to train, compete, and grow”, Rep. Benson said.
The three – term lawmaker also described late Akinsanya as a model father, police officer and safey ambassador.
“Chief Akinsanya’s impact extended beyond the sports field, he was a safety ambassador, a retired senior police officer, a model and a father figure to many.
“He instilled values of discipline, hard work, and perseverance in the young athletes he encountered, and he helped shape them into responsible and successful individuals.
“As we mourn the passing of late Alhaji Akinsanya, we take comfort in the knowledge that his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.
“May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire generations to come”, Rep. Benson prayed.
