As part of the progammes lined – up by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos State Chapter, to commemorate the 2024 International Youth Day, the Lagos East Senatorial District is scheduled to hold a leadership advocacy program aimed at creating a platform to engage government authorities in the District.

The inaugural edition, which is scheduled to debut in Ijede LCDA, will be hosted by Hon Motunrayo Gbadebo -Alogba, the Executive Chairman, Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

The engagement program holds at the Ijede LCDA Secretariat on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

According to the organizers, the choice of Ijede is significant owing to the fact that the Chairman is the youngest in Lagos East, and her sterling performance in Ijede, signifies the can do spirit of the young people.

The NYCN Vice Chairman, Comrade Asoro Abubakri Olatunji, ACArb, noted that, “Although, the program will go round the senatorial district, including corporate bodies, Ijede is significant because we want to use the Chairman’s success story as a point of contact to encourage young people not to give up on their dreams and aspirations, and to further remind the public that the clamour for young people inclusion is still alive and must continue to be considered’’, he said.

“Furthermore, the program is expected to be a mentorship avenue and opportunity for the youths of Lagos East to network, jaw jaw instead of war war on issues affecting young people, while providing resounding solutions”.

Asoro further noted that the initiative is part of the youth council’s promise that engagement is better than taking to the street.

All the local branch structures of the youth council and Voluntary Youth Organisations (VYOs) in Lagos East, are expected at the event, while the Executive Chairman of Ijede is also expected to be decorated as the Grand Patron of the local branch of NYCN, at the event.
