Ijede Development Engages 98 Students In Computer Training

The Ijede Development Foundation (IDF), a body which has taken upon itself the responsibility of developing education in Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has organized a free computer training progarmme for primary and secondary school students.

A total of 98 students registered for the programme which kicked off with 91 of them at the weekend.

Experts in ICT, will introduce the students to computer theory and practice with focus on MS WORD, MS EXCEL, MS COREL DRAW, MS POWERPOINT among others.

Speaking with Mr Olakunle Matti, General Secretary, IDF at the commencement, he said that participants will be engaged in introduction into computer education.

He added that they will be introduced into advanced level in the subsequent training.

“For now, at the end of the training the students will be exposed to the practical use of the computer to manipulate the MS WORD, MS EXCEL, MS COREL DRAW, MS POWERPOINT, etc.

“The programme will continue after the long holiday. The training is for free of charge.

“In the future, the training will be focused on the advanced critical problem-solving areas of ICT and specialization”, he said.

Matti said that the IDF secretariat and computer centre is well – equipped with facilities for the training, also called public spirited individuals to support IDF with more computers.

“We have 8 brand new computer system, 2 UPS and a printer.

“For the security of the assets we have installed a CCTV CAMERA SURVEILLANCE . A security personnel has also been hired. Two other personnel hired as a trainer and Administrative officer.

“We need more computer systems, a generator set funds for administration and maintenance of the assets.

“We are using this medium to extend our sincere appreciation to the members of IDF, Patrons, individuals and organisation who have supported this initiative to come to fruition.

“To sustain this laudable programme we are appealing to the members of the public to please support us in keeping the dream alive”, he said.
