Light Up Project: Rep. Benson Begins Replacement Of Bad Solar Lights, Installation In New Areas

In his efforts to sustain the light up project that he kicked – started some yeas back, the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson, has commenced the replacement of bad poles and solar lights across the Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

Since the exercise started about a week ago, the engineering department of the iCare Foundation, the operational arm of the three – term lawmaker headed by Mayor Muhydeen Sanwoola, has replaced the solar lights in some areas, and also light up new areas that were without solar lights before now.

Areas where replacement of solar lights has taken place are: Otambala Street, Odulate Street, Oriwu Road, while solar light poles were installed at Munirat Aleje Street, Mosene Estate, Gbasemo CDA, Lowa Street and Mowo – Nla Estate in Ikorodu Local Government

The installation of the solar street lights was also extended to Alogba Parapo CDA in Ikorodu West LCDA, and Oke Eletu in Ijede LCDA.

Our reporter came across the iCare Foundation’s engineer, Mr Shobo and others, while they were replacing some bad poles along Oriwu road.

Speaking with our reporter, Mr Shobo said that the exercise is aimed at strengthening the light – up initiative of Rep. Benson.

“What we are doing is to replace bad solar street lights that we initiated some years back and also install the solar lights in areas that are in need.

“The efforts is gear towards strengthening the initiative, so as to make the Ikorodu Federal Constituency brighter and secured”, he said.

Engr. Shobo also stated that aside areas where bad solar lights have been replaced and installation in new areas, which was done in the last one week, the exercise will be extended to other areas in the coming week.

Meanwhile, the 150-capacity e-learning centre that was facilitated by the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson, is nearing completion.

When our reporter visited the Ikorodu Town Hall site of the facility today, the structure has been painted, while the floor tiled and fans have been installed.

The contractor is also working on the borehole facility, and electricians doing the electrification works within the building, as at the time our reporter visited the site.
