The process to elect a new executive council that will run the affairs of the Igbogbo Youth Coalition (IYC), officially begun today with the lifting of ban on campaigns.
With the ban lifted, interested and qualified candidates and their supporters are free to engage in campaign activities in accordance with the guidelines released by the 2024 Independent Electoral Committee (IEC) of the IYC, on Wednesday.
The lifting of the ban was announced in a statement signed by the Mr. Toheeb Sanni and Ms. Fathia Kolejo, the IEC Chairman and Secretary respectively.
“In accordance with the provisions of the Igbogbo Youth Coalition Constitution, Article 6, Section 2, the IYC-IEC is empowered to establish Electoral Regulations as it sees fit, provided they adhere to the stipulations of the Constitution.
“As such, the Independent Electoral Committee, hereby, lift the ban on campaigns”, the statement stated.
“All campaigns must be conducted in accordance with the law as outlined in the Constitution and Electoral Guidelines”, the IEC added.
