Students in Educational District II, Lagos State, have, again, displayed exceptional talents and skills which have stood them out among others. This time around, it was at the Limitless Global Educator Program sponsored by IHS Towers, where students selected across secondary schools in the country, engaged in student-based projects that were transported to the International Space Station (ISS).
Leading the pack, Miss Ademosu Rashidat Kehinde of Eva-Adelaja Girls Junior Secondary School, Somolu, who experimented on Microgravity, emerged victorious in the highly competitive students’ experiment contest.
This remarkable project embodied not only the academic prowess of students in the district, but also their innovative spirit and commitment to scientific exploration.
The Tutor General/Permanent Secretary, Education District 2, Mrs Anike Adekanye, in a statement, expressed her delight in the students’ performance, adding that the outcome shows the impacts of Governor Babajide Sanwo – Olu, on education in the state.
“We are incredibly proud of our students’ outstanding accomplishments. It is another true result of the tenacity of Mr Governor’s commitment to achieving limitless success through the Education and Technology Pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S PLUS Agenda of his administration’, she said.
“The leadership provided by our esteemed Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, is also quite rewarding”.
The Tutor – General, speaking further, said that, “the remarkable feat did not only highlight the exceptional talents and dedication of students in Education District 2, but also underscores the premium that the leadership of the district gives to using STEM education as an empowering tool to drive development in the next generation of scientific leaders as envisioned by the tenets of Education and Technology Pillar”.
She further noted that, “the Limitless Global Educator Program has provided a transformative platform for our students to showcase their skills, collaborate with their peers, and inspire for creativity and innovation.
“As we continue to champion excellence in education, we look forward to witnessing more remarkable achievements from the students of Education District ll”.
She extended her heartfelt congratulations to the Principal, staff, and students of the winning school, and also celebrated the collective success of the Education District 2 family.
Students that participated in the STEM competition from the district are: Obadan Abigail, Igwe Frances, Nnamdi-Ngwu Adanna, Alabi Fatimah, Okeowo Balqis, Igwe Grace, Louis Cynthia, Ogbogu Blossom, Irodi Chiamaka and Nnajiofor Pamela.
The program also exposed some of the district’s students to the International Space Art & Poetry contest, with the following students participating – Oluwafikayomi Badmus, Oluwabusolami Dawodu, Peace Alemede, Flourish Adeyekun, Rebecca Adegoke and Adebusayo Omoboriowo
A student from another school in the district, a few days ago, emerged as the winner of the 2024 Best Essay Prize in the Ethical Living Secondary Schools Essay Competition organized by the African Capital Alliance Foundation.
