Rep. Benson To Ikorodu Constituency: Expect More Road, Other Projects, Mega Empowerment

-Commends residents for not involving in nationwide protest

The representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson, has, again, assured residents of Ikorodu Division of more quality representation in terms of more roads, hospitals, sporting centres and solar lights among other projects that he has been facilitating from the federal level.

Benson also commended residents of Ikorodu, for not joining the nationwide protests tagged, ‘#EndBadGovernance’, that led to many deaths and properties destroyed, while he hinted about another mega empowerment for the residents.

He gave the assurance at his quarterly town hall meeting held at his constituency office in Ikorodu, on Saturday, during which he also gave All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward executives financial support which he has been doing every quarter.

“Firstly, I want thank you again for the votes that you gave our party at the last elections. I will continue to thank you every time that I am with you.

“All the roads I have been facilitating and other initiatives and favours are from Mr President who always remembers how you supported the APC with your votes. Definitely, you will be seeing more roads being constructed and more empowerment programmes.

“Another empowerment is still coming that would be massive”, Rep Benson assured.

While commending residents in Ikorodu, for not joining the protest, Rep. Benson announced gifts for the stakeholders of the party.

“I have a gift for the people of Ikorodu LG, Ikorodu West, Ikorodu North, Imota, Ijede and Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDAs, because while they were rioting all over Nigeria; they rioted everywhere, but there was no such thing in Ikorodu Division.

“We are going to compensate you with our empowerment and there will be more road constructions.

“The 1.5km Ewu – Owa road in Ijede that Hon. Motunrayo spoke about, will be constructed”.

He pleaded with Ikorodu residents to be patient with the administration of President Tinubu whom he said has initiated many initiatives that will bring about social and economic developments in the country.

“It was just like this in his first year when he was governor in Lagos State, and he always overcome challenges and he will overcome this and bring desired developments.

“He has innovated several ideas like the students’ loan but the application from Ikorodu is not encouraging. If you have any challenge doing that, kindly contact Mr Muhydeen Sanwoola for assistance.

Babajimi Benson, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, Otunba Olasunkanmi Tijani and other chieftains are seated.

“Students’ loan will bring relieve to parents, because government will assist with the school fees, and also gives the students some money for their upkeep.

“There is another initiative of the government that is also coming called, ‘Consumers’ Credit’, which you use in buying phones and other items on credit and pay on a monthly basis.

“There is also the Local Government financial autonomy. This will make the local government collect their allocations directly. Once this is done, the council can award contracts on projects to you”, Rep. Benson said.

He also said that more roads will be constructed before the end of the year.

“We have done 54 roads, but we are working towards making about 100 before the end of the year”, he further assured.

Speaking earlier, Otunba Olasunkanmi Tijani, the Divisional Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), leading other speakers, thanked Rep. Benson for sustaining the town hall meeting and quality representation.

He also commended him for always getting back to party chieftains and members.

The Chairman, CDC, Ikorodu North LCDA, in his own remarks, thanked Ikorodu residents for not joining the nationwide protest which led to death and destructions in other parts of the country which he said was due to many ongoing projects in Ikorodu Division and the Ikorodu federal lawmaker’s representation.

He appealed to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu, to release more funds for the ongoing projects. According to him, the completion of the projects would compensate for the residents’ support for APC, during the last election.

Chairman, Conference of Ward Chairmen in Ikorodu Division, also speaking, thanked Rep. Benson for his support for the party members.

Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), the representative of the Ikorodu Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, thanked Rep. Benson who his serving his third term as the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, for his representation and mentorship.

He appealed to aspirants for the council elections not to use their aspiration to divide the party.

While Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo – Alogba, Chairman, Ijede LCDA, also thanked the three – term federal lawmaker for his quality representation, especially in Ijede LCDA, she, again, commended him for the Ewu – Owa road which the representative has facilitated its construction, the Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Builder Sesan Daini, expressed appreciation to Rep. Benson for his leadership and mentorship which he said has provided him with valuable lessons.

Also, the representative of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), also acknowledged the federal lawmaker’s impactful representation, stating that his road projects across the Ikorodu Division, solar street lights and those for home use, and financial support among others, have stood him out as a quality representative.

Religious and community leaders

Representatives of the Ward Executives from the six council areas in Ikorodu Division, also took their turn to shower encomiums and accolades on Rep. Benson whom they described as unequaled and outstanding.
The speaker from Ikorodu West LCDA, pleaded with the lawmaker to use his good office and connection with President Bola Tinubu, in ensuring that the 37 LCDAs in the state, are fully recognized as full fledged council areas, to sustain developments at the grassroots level.

His Eminence, Shaykh Seifudeen Ademoritan Olowo-Oribi, the Grand Chief Imam, Ikorodu Division, and Shaykh Yahya Oshoala (Ajagbemokeferi), Chief Imam, Oriwu Central Mosque, also commended the Ikorodu Federal lawmaker, describing him as a pride of the Division. while they also offered special prayers for him.

Also at the town hall meeting were Mayor Muyideen Sanwoola, Executive Assistant to Governor Sanwo – Olu on Park Management and Director – General, iCare Foundation, Alhaji Animashaun, APC Chairman, Ikorodu LGA, Otunba Adebayo Lawson, APC Chairman, Ikorodu West LGA, Hon.
