It was a calm atmosphere in the Ikorodu Local Government, as there was no sign of any protest on the first day of the 10 day of rage protest, otherwise known as protest against bad governance.
Our reporter, who covered the situation in Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ikorodu West LCDA, under the Ikorodu Local Government, and the Ikorodu main town, reported that there was calm every where.
Most of the shops were under lock and key, thus, social and economic activities were very low.
Most shops along Igbogbo-lpakodo (Ebute) axis were not opened, while few commercial vehicles operated.
At the police post, Ipakodo, there were about four armed police officers sitting at the junction.
Commercial activities along Ipakodo road to Ikorodu garage, were equally low, as most shops and other commercial centres didn’t open.
Social and economic activities were also paralysed along the Ayangbure, Ojubode, Ladega and the Ikorodu garage axis which used to experience high volume of people and trading activities.
At the Ikorodu garage, there were heavy security presence, with Police, LNSC and special squad on the ground.
The MOPOL 63 and other police and LNSC vehicles were stationed in the area, while security officers were seen in groups, discussing.
Speaking with two security officers, they told our reporter that there has been no problem at the Ikorodu garage roundabout.
Also, areas such as Oriwu road, Ita Elewa, Ireshe, Sheriff, Igbogbo, Oba Molaja road and main Igbogbo township equally were equally calm, as most residents stayed indoors.
At the frontage of the Igbogbo Bayeku LCDA Secretariat, a police patrol vehicle was parked close to the MOPOL 63 station to indicate police presence.
