All is set for the first Oro festival in Igbogbo – Oro Abosan festival which is slated for Saturday, July 27, 2024.
As the tradition permits, women are restricted indoor from 11pm on Friday, 26 till 5am on Sunday, July 28.
Oro Abosan is an age long ritual used for cleansing and offering of prayers for peace and progress in the town.
High Chief Tajudeen Alade Onasanya, the Odofin of Igbogbo and the Olootu Lantan Onanusi family, confirmed the date in a phone chat with THE IMPACT.
On behalf of the entire Lantan Onanusi family and Igbogbo indigenes and residents, Odofin also felicitated the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Barr.) Semiudeen Orimadegun kasali, on the Oro festival.
Meanwhile, the Igbogbo Youth Council (IYC), has emphasized the need for women and female folks in general, to adhere strictly with the restriction in what it termed as safety precaution for them during the Oro festival.
“By our community tradition and values in the Land of cool Beauty, IYC reminds all women to be indoor from midnight on Friday to 5am on Sunday”.
