-Farmers in Ikorodu laud FG, lawmaker
The representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson, has stated that the fertilisers distributed to famers in his constituency and across the country, are meant to bolster and revitalize agricultural activities in communities.
The administration of President Bola Tinubu had distributed bags of fertilisers to farmers in local communities through the state governments, 109 Senators and 360 Members of the House of Representatives.
The bags of fertilisers for the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, were distributed at the lawmaker’s constituency in Ikorodu, on Tuesday.
At the seminar held at the Hon. Benson’s office before the distribution of the fertilisers to beneficiaries, Mr Idris Bello and Mr Adedoyin Odetie, spoke on how to effectively apply the fertilsers for maximum production.
“In an effort to support the agricultural sector in Nigeria, 600 bags of 50kg fertilizers were distributed to crop farmers in the Ikorodu Federal Constituency”, Rep, Benson said.
“This generous provision of fertilizers, made possible by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is aimed at bolstering and revitalizing agricultural activities in local communities, with the ultimate goal of boosting food production in the country”.
He charged beneficiaries to put the received fertilsers into good use that will yield maximum harvest of foods.
“I am confident that the recipient farmers across the Ikorodu Local Government and the 5 LCDAs, will make the most of these fertilizers, creating a ripple effect on food production that will have a significant impact”, he said.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the Local Government Supervisors for Agriculture, and all other stakeholders involved in the provision and seamless distribution exercise”.
Meanwhile, farmers in Ikorodu Federal Constituency, have lauded the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson and the FG, on the distribution of the fertilisers.
Benefitting farmers said that the support will not only give maximum production, but also help them in reviving unproductive lands.
Mr Ojuoluwa Abbass from Igbo-Olu Farmers Association, Ikorodu West LCDA, speaking with THE IMPACT at the distribution centre, said that the FG’s gesture will go a long way in making farmers productive and assist in reviving lands that are not yielding well again.
“We really appreciate him because it comes to reality. We have challenges about land fertilisers, because crops are not doing fine. Most of the lands we are using have faded out but with the donated fertilizers, we believe it will help most of our crops and we believe they will grow very well.
“He has been doing it and I encourage him to continue to help farmers, and doing that means that he is helping everybody generally. We appreciate him and this will go a long way, it will really help farmers.
“With this support, we will produce enough food. I believe that Honourable Jimi Benson want food to be surplus for people. That is why he is doing all these things and now, I believe farmers that benefitted will be able to provide more foods than before.
“He should keep up the good work that he has been doing in Ikorodu. I believe God will take him to a greater height. The support should not end with this, we will need more support to make food available”, he said.
Another famer from Ikorodu North, Mr James, lauded President Tinubu and the Ikorodu Federal lawmaker for the gesture.
“This is the kind of support that should be coming from the federal, state and the local governments, for farmers. This is how to encourage food productions and ensure food security in Nigeria”, he said.
“Kudos to President Tinubu and our own representatives for always facilitating good things for us in Ikorodu. Their gesture will go a long way in helping our production”.
Mrs Akinde Christiana Oluwaseun from Oluwaseun Farm, Offin in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, also expressed her appreciation, while stating the impacts the fertilizers will have on his farm produce.
“The gesture from the FG is something that will be very useful, because the fertilisers given to us will make our crops grow better for consumption and sales. I really appreciate him and God will continue to bless him.
“When people begin to see the outcome in my farm, when my corns germinate and other things that I use the fertilisers for germinate, they will begin to ask how l did it and I will tell them it is Hon. Babajimi Benson that gave me the fertilisers.
“There are some lands that are no longer producing, but with this fertilizer, they will be revived”.
Another beneficiary, Mr Olakunle Olaleye from Tope Farm and resident of the Unity Estate, Ijede, was also full of appreciation for the fertlisers that he received as support.
“This will be a good benefit because it will help our crops grow faster. This will improve our production, because we will be able to harvest in good time and cultivate the land for further production.
“People should be expecting a positive outcome because they did not only give us the fertilizer, but also engage us in a seminar on how to use it.
“Hon. Benson is really doing things that Ikorodu needs, and God will continue to sustain him.
“We appreciate him. We thank him for doing this and for not forgetting the farmers. As you know, there will be no food if there are no farmers”.
Showemimo Elizabeth from Rich Farm, Ikorodu North LCDA, thanked the lawmaker for sustaining his support for farmers.
“This is not the first time that he will be giving us support, and it is really good that he is assisting farmers in Ikorodu. He is a transformer and father in Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
“We really appreciate him for all that he is doing about the development of agriculture. What we are giving today is a lot and it is going to maximise our production and help our crops that are dying, to rise again.
“With this, we will have more produce to take to the market and make more money”.
