Also, mothers were presented with buckets filled with detergents liquid soap and toiletries.

Monetary and gift items were also given to the best dressed girl and boy by the founder, Mrs Lawal – Osi.

She emphasized the reason behind the annual gathering as a way of appreciating God for His mercy.

“The purpose of gathering widows, parents and children together, is because of what I went through as a mother. I had to wait for 18 years before I could have a child and this is my promise to God”, she said.

“This happened after 18 years when all hope was lost. So, this is my way of bringing families together.

“It is my way of bringing children together and making them enjoy themselves and be happy. We are doing this from the token that we have.

“I am saying this so that you will be able to understand the story behind it. God has been faithful to me; He has been so good and kind to me.

After a long time of tribulation, I ended up smiling and rejoicing, because God counted me among the victors.

That is why I am returning the glory to God and that is what I will always do. We usually host programmes in terms of thanksgiving, every January and August.

“Last year, the event was big but we decided to make it moderate this year. This year, we have made provisions for 300 children.

“Just a few days back, we also supported 300 retires, widows and aged”, she added.

Eletu of Oke – Eletu, High Chief Adeniyi Omotayo, in his remarks, thanked the Obateru of Egbin Kingdom, for honouring their invitation in Oke Eletu.

He charged parents and children to learn from Mrs Lawal – Osi’s tribulations and her belief in God.

“We must learn something from the life experience of our mother who is sponsoring this programme as narrated to us by her. She had an agreement with God, and after she got her request, she did not forget the pledge; rather, she has been giving thanks in her own way”, he said.
