Chairman of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele has promised to ensure effective collaboration between his officers and operatives of the Lagos State Neighbourhoods Safety Agency (LNSA).
Akerele disclosed this during his recent visit to the LNSA Headquarters at Bolade, Oshodi, adding that he wants the Taskforce to work with the Agency as a team towards improving security and enhancing service delivery in Lagos State.
He described the Taskforce as the backbone of the Lagos State security architecture that provides armed support to the unarmed law enforcement agencies operating across the State.
He reiterated his commitment to achieving the mandate of the security outfit having served as second-in-command to the former Chairman, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi.
Akerele applauded the Lagos State Government for ensuring that all the security agencies are located in the Multi-Agency Complex at Bolade Oshodi for an effective synergy.
In his response, the General Manager of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency, Prince Dr Ifalade Oyekan said there is a need for the two agencies to work together to ensure improved security in Lagos State given their common goals and objectives.
Oyekan further revealed that LNSA has a standing directive from Mr. Governor to acquire relevant knowledge from the Lagos State Taskforce and other similar agencies operating in the state and beyond.
The General Manager added that the role of the agency is to provide credible intelligence and proactive mitigation services to the people of Lagos State.
“That is why we submit our intelligence report to the CP weekly to keep up with the crime trends”, he added.
He said he looks forward to a situation where the Taskforce will give armed support to the surveillance teams of the Agency when they go on monitoring, especially to creeks as the LNSA is set to flag off its Marine Corps operations.
According to him, it is important to carry the Taskforce along in most of its operations as the Agency is expected to hand over suspects apprehended to the Police, stressing that this will cut the red tape that often hinders the agency’s work.
Oyekan commended Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for always finding capable individuals for the right posts, declaring that the new Chairman comes with a lot of experience which will enhance the operations of the two Agencies.
